Why Were The Planets Taken Out?

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Hello,

I was just wondering why the planets were taken out in Fleet Operations, them beeing an important stategical element. I understant that being able to convert one ressource to another (trading stations) was softening the game, but colonies were fun.

There are planets. If you look at the map building mode you can make different types of planets in the backround, kind of like in Armada 1.

i think that planets, once they are colonized, should be able to have an upgradable option for weapons, just like sheilds..... the planets should have like a planetary defense system or you should have the option to build one from the contruction ship....

tat would be cool, orbiting weapons platforms even if planets serve no porpose that would be kool.

there won't be regular planets like in a2 in Fleet Operations. we removed them, cause we thought its strange to colonize a planet and then have just 5000 people on it.. if there should be colonization, i should have more options then a2 allows us.
but i think there will be neutral planets which can be occupied and then gran't massive bonuses or construction options
