That's a really awesome picture Mutant Hippie, especially because we never got to see the battle in the show. It even shows all the older ships pre-defiant era, which is cool. The picture is like magic  :sorcerer:

That's a shot from the first part of the episode "Emissary". It's the first episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

Nice Pic!

Actually, good point nefrance243, you do get to see some of the battle in "Emissary". With Sisko in command of a Miranda class Saratoga. I remember that now

A great way to see a clip of the battle of wolf 359 is to watch the Borg Video Documentary at StarTrek.com.

Her a link to the documentary:

watched it last night, its good :D.

I also find the borg in Voyager quite contradictory to what and how the borg should act.

Yes in voyager the Borg are much weaker too.  :(

In the next gen one cube can destroy an entire fleet easily, but in voyager a tactical cube (supposedly more powerful) hangs in a firefight with voyager (a light cruiser) for about 10 minutes

Voyager is quite well armed for its size but (according to the next gen) it should have been destroyed with a single shot or two (probably from a couple of those bad-ass gravimetric torpedos).

Also, why do the Borg always end only one cube to Earth? If assimilating the Capital Planet of the federation is so important, then why not send lots of cubes. In one episode of voyager, the bad-guy Arturis describes "hundreds of cubes" surrounding his homeworld. Now that sounds more like it.

Really, if the Borg were not so amazingly dumb, they would have assimilated the entire galaxy long ago, even according to the weaker strength of the Voyager series.

Well, the producers explained that a way with:

1. The Voyager is a later ship model, and thus equipped to withstand Borg attacks for some time.
2. Hey, at the end of VOY the ship was pretty much borgified itself, with power couplings, increased shield strength etc...
3. They were always skimming the cube#s surface in order to minimize their exposure to its weapon phalanxes ^^

4. Yes, I realize these are just excuses for the fact the ship became much stronger during the series than it should have...

They also use 7 of 9's borg expertise to fight them.

and in the last episode, they had all that fancy-pants future weaponry designed to blow up borg
