Hi folks, just looking for anyone willing to write a tutorial on how to make a map background and starfield :)

Heh, I don't know exactly how to make one, but I can edit them just fine.  If nobody else volunteers I'll see if I can't figure it out.

I'm not sure why you would want to edit starfields though, I think what we have now in FO is just fine. :sweatdrop:

Just want to get a complete picture of all parts of modding - there are also some weird quirks.

A2tuts.de.vu - Armada 2 Tutorials

This is the only page I know that explains how to make a map background in armada II - which is what FO seems to use for most map backgrounds. The thing I don't understand is why mbgblue.sod is in the SOD folder and why envbg_blue.sod is apparently not a cube  :pinch:

For instance: why is the_void.odf and no_stars.odf (for starfield) the exact same thing. Also, what do the numbers mean, etc.

one is from me/phoenix, and one is from the devs.  that is why you have two of the same starfield.

oh, and one of those MBGblue's is for the credit screen.  if you change the color of the MBG02.tga it will change the colors of the bluish nebula which is both on the credit screen, and the thing around the edges of the loading screen.
