Hey guys,
So I have been finding that a new style of map-making is suiting me much better. Mainly that style being a safe starting pair of moons and more spread out, non-joined, and vulnerable expansions. This is most prevalent in "The Final Frontier II" where people have to expand cautiously but solidly and either leave ships or a few defensive structures to avoid losing miners to a few interceptors. I really like it that way .
So I have been mulling over the idea of adjusting "Rain" and "Malta II" to be a bit more like just that: having the moons spread out. This would allow players more flexibility as not "All their eggs will be in one basket" if you know the expression. Rain especially would benefit greatly from this update, I feel.
This is really something that has come about since the release of the speed adjustments and the more defined roles of vessels as raiders or fleet combatants.
What do you guys think? I'm sure the devs wouldn't mind me adjusting these maps a bit even though they are stock now. What do YOU think could be done to make these maps better?

Fantastic idea. I like the slower style of gameplay that such a map requires. Fewer, more spread out moons on large maps is always interesting.

Good to know .

Ugh.... I would at least like the first two sets of moons to be fairly close together. I always have that as a rule.

Separated moons are a good idea. Especially cloaking races can take profit out of this...

Indeed, like Drrr and Thenolos said - separated moons are great, both for facility of harassment as well as recovery (you don't lose an entire moon pair).
Rain definitely could use a work up - it's a bit bland compared to your two newer 3v3 maps since there is essentially only one way you can go. Once someone wins the middle set... well, game over usually follows fairly rapidly .
That being said, I like Malta II the way it is . It works well with the moon pairs the way they are now, since you can expand to the left or right (and it's a smallish map which is more cramped on space for combat).

I'm all for an update . Though I'd make it an entirely new map made "in the style of *insert map here*. That way people who prefer the old styles don't have to fiddle with conflicting versions of the same map for people who like the new style.
Of mine, my asymmetric Star System maps are all a progression of the previous maps of a similar style . Coincidentally, I *am* intending on working on some updates for that series. Just a bit (a lot) bogged down with work at the mo.

Hahaha, I am actually in the process of looking at the old ones right now .
I've started a new topic like everyone else that has a complete list of the maps I've made. I am going to keep that one updated HERE.
First ones being updated are Duel and The Final Frontier II. Duel had a few minor tweaks made to streamline the gameplay, while FF2 will see basically the same done.
I also re-uploaded This is No Cave! as a basically new map. I'm hoping that people will use it a bit and then give me some feedback like: "too many moons", too difficult to navigate, too easy to turtle, yadda yadda...
