Creating a historical map

How would i create a map and add ships ect too it? I was thinking a few hours ago about re-creating maps and battles from startrek history like the battle of wolf 359 ect and want to know if ships can actually be added to a map and assigned to a team like team 1 being the feds and team 2 being AI borg.

go to the guide through dominus signature link and select the map editing link from the top, all the links got messed up recently
