I made this map the other night, it's going to be a 2v2, top vs bottom. The idea was that this would be more of a fun map like plasma conduit than an intense strategic one like star traffic. The size is 22000 x 14000, hopefully that isn't too big for 2v2, it's basically a 14000x14000 square, with 2 extra side areas that will have expansion moons or something. I was thinking the players would start off roughly in each corner of the square part of the map. So where do you think I should put the moons and start positions?

eh, what?

Anyways, upload of the current version would be appreciated, so we can see distances and size more clearly.

Yeah this looks pretty fun!

At first the 22k distance made me pause, but I suppose if most of the action takes place in the center square then you've found a unique way to compensate for that  :woot:.

My only thought is that it appears one person on each side will be forced to expand to the sides.  While I don't have issue with that in general, a lot of people will not like the fact that there will inevitably be the case where two opponents end up at the same expansion.  Races that expand better than others will obviously win there :)

Boggz: The map plays top vs. bottom, so the expansions in the middle will actually be shared by one team. I assume you thought it was left vs. right, or did I misunderstand you?

Question regarding blocking triggers: what is the actual area that it blocks? the white hexagon thingy or the red squares on the grid that surround it?

Plasma Conduit is like sex: it's both fun and intense at the same time!

Shared expansions bug me when there aren't enough moons to go around, but the players' side expands are close enough that it shouldn't be a problem.  I would have to play it to get a better feel of how big it is, but it looks like it's very difficult to combine fleets since the middle corridor is so narrow.  This will usually split games into two 1v1's unless you carve out a bigger chamber in the middle.

Contrary to how it looks the middle is actually pretty wide.

oh yeah, here's a teaser:

ok so based on playtesting the map a couple times I think the expansion moon sets on the left and right sides are waaay too close to the other team's, so I'm gonna change the asteroids in the corners and move them farther back.
