Ok, First let me say I am no professional modder or programmer. Second, I have so many questions now that I have dug down into the files. What are the names of the federation ship stations in the ODF files? What are the names of the warp-in ships in the ODF files? I found the prometheus down in the ship files, can it be built? Is there a guide that explains everything? Nothing looks the same as in the original Armada 2 files.

I found the shipyards. I found the Teutoburg and Descent and made them buildable with the other ships if anyone is interested. Excellent MOD and work from all involved. I also found the Prometheus and you can make it buildable as well.

There is a guide!
http://guide.fleetops.net/guide/modding
I think it answer your questions, but definitely ask if you have more!

I would like to modify a quantum torpedo and turn it from blue to purple. I still want the blue torpedos, I just want to create new files for a purple torpedo with slightly more damage. What files would I need to edit? SOD? TEXTURE? ODF? SPRITE?

If you want to modify an existing quantum torpedo, you can just change the sprite reference which links the odf reference to the texture file. If you want to make a whole new one, you will need to copy an existing sprite reference, change the name to whatever you want, and then reference that sprite in the ship ODF of your choice.
If I remember correctly, normal torpedos don't have their own odf, they are just sort of created within a ship odf with a damage value and some other characteristics, as well as a visual sprite reference. If you want to do something like the artillery tricobalt torpedo, that requires making a special weapon odf and it gets more complicated that way.

So I went into the Sovereign ODF file and the quantum torpedos have an ODF file called fedW_sovereign2. Went there. I can't find any reference within the ODF file that would point to a sprite or texture file. There is a reference to a SOD file but that is supposed to be wireframes if i read correctly. The only thing that I found that might reference it is classLabel = cannonImp.

So i created a new sprite line and a new texture for the torpedo. However, I don't know how to reference the sprite inside the ODF. Could you explain further?

This is what I did, where is my error? Any help would be appreciated. Trying to create a new purple torpedo. I created a new TGA file called wtoropedo_quantum_pur.
