Question about torpedoes

I am wondering how to change the color of a quantom torpedo, and i was wondering if anywone knew how to do that. Also based on starfleets current tradition of naming torps after parts of light waves what does anyone think the next generation of torpedo will be called?

I already invented one. The Tachyon torpedo! :lol:

But suppposedly it is very powerful... I posted about it in the Prom forum of Tyler's V2. I can never make a 'properly done' one. The real look is beyond my current photoshop skills.

Well, what it looks like is this...

A photon torpedo with a semi-translucent color phasing from Indigo blue to Violet.

I believe the only way to change the color of a torp in A2/FO is to change the texture.
* You can find the texture of a quantum torp in DataTextureswtorpedo_quantum.tga
* Copy it and rename (maybe name it with whatever color ur changing it to, ie wtorpedo_quantum_purple.tga if you were making it purple), then do whatever color edits you want to the copy.
* Open up DataSpritesFleetops.spr
* In Fleetops.spr find the line wquantumtorpedo and copy the whole line. (wquantumtorpedo wtorpedo_quantum 0 0 64 64 @anim=tex4x4)
* Paste underneath the original and change wquantumtorpedo to what ur weapons name (not filename) is (ie, wquantumtorpedopurple) then change 'wtorpedo_quantum' to the filename of your edited copy u made earlier.
* Save and exit.
* Now u just need to use wquantumtorpedopurple (or whatever u named the sprite) into the sprite = "" line in a torpedo weapons ordinance file.
I think that is all that is needed.

Unless u want to change the original, then just do the color adjustments and don't worry about making copies or editing FleetOps.spr i guess.

I was inspired by your description so i thought i'd whip something up. Whaddya think?
you will need to add something like this:

@treference = 192
@tmaterial = alpha
tachyontorp wtorpedo_tachyon 0 0 64 64 @anim=tex3x3

I hope you like it! i made it photoshop in an hour or so.

hey thats nice i wanted to make a purple torp anyway now just to add it in game.

I did the above intructions but I don't understand what to add to the ODF file. Anyone help?
