Auto Destruct (3.0.7)

The ability to destroy your own ships, used in canon to prevent capture of the vessel by enemies. It was removed from FO, but I missed setting it...watching my ships get assimilated, then exploding randomly as they left the battleground. Few things in stock A2 were as satisfying as seeing that.

The ability isn't wise to use if your own ships are in the immediate vacinity, as it causes area damage. The countdown and range of the shockwave varies by empire.

Some assembly required: This is the Auto Destruct ability, you will obviously have to add it to ships of your choosing personally.

Hey I tried using this but it just crashes the game. Everything works fine up until the actual explosion of the vessel.
The button works fine and the voice works but after lil sparks fly from ship the game just crashes..So Im thinking maybe there is something missing?....anyone else have a problem with this?

Are the files xselfbal and xselfd included with FO?

Im using a patched .spr file but I dont think that has anything to do with it...but I did notice that the stock texture of the self destruct wave included in FO is named "wselfdes.tga" perhaps this has something to do with it maybe?...

WHat files are these? I checked the texture odf and sod directories and did not find them.

FO doesn't come with them? That must be the problem... they are needed for the explosion to complete.

I've replaced the Auto-Destruct with another version. Try it now.

so then u must have installed them into ur copy then right?...so it does work we just need those 2 files corect? and I double checked and they are not in FO.

Hi,

nice idea - but can this updatet for the actual FO 3.1.3 ?
Have found - many things in the  tooltypes dont match the orginal file .... (dynamic_string ...)
(so i am doing anything wrong or the file format have changed ....)
