Changes the ART_CFG file, cead ships stay behind after the explosion for a while and creating debris fields after battles.

Instructions:
1. Copy Debris fields.fpq into the main game directory.
2. Activate it in the options menu.

EDIT: I have replaced it with a new one. The new one has larger ship bits for less small pieces floating around. It also stays for a shorter amount of time, so debris shouldn't build up as much.

Will this become a separate mod in the manager? Don't want to break multiplayer.

EDIT: I can't read.

EDIT2: Still can't get it to show up in the mod manager.

Do you also need the ffolders from the 'Mods' directory? I think so...

EDIT: Try it now.

I think so too, cheers Tyler.

EDIT: Great mod, really fun in big fights.

Suggestions to consider; when a ship dies with forward momentum, after the explosion the debris just stops moving.
Also, it would be nice if it spread out just a little more than the width of the ship when it was intact, seems a bit odd that all the debris is revolving round a fixed point.

But otherwise looks really cool :)

I can make the parts smaller and spread a bit faster, but I don't think momentum could be kept from before death.

EDIT: Try it now. The debris spreads out faster (though it takes a few seconds to get moving) and seems to have a lot more small pieces.

nice, how does this behave on weaker systems? does it use lots of resources?

I don't know, I've never really checked. Don't know where to look, either.

These will slow you down just like with too many nebs and asteroids.

Haven't tried it yet but looks like a really cool idea, Tyler!

Do you think there might be a way to decrease the percentage of debris left by the whole?  Like, make 50% of the debris disappear after 3 seconds while the other 50% hang around a bit longer?

That might keep the same cool effect without straining too many systems :).

The devs would have to add a way to do that since there is no way to do so currently.

Would be nice if the devs could add persistent debris as a graphics option. Like persistent bodies in RTSs :)

Very good Tyler. This mod gives more reality sensation.

And good idea to turn it an option. Low End machines cant run this mod on later game.  ^-^

if it starts to slow down to much try using game booster it helps out a good bit

Well, this makes Fleet Operations a whole lot more realistic.  Unfortunately, every time a battle takes place, the framerate drops tremendously.

PS:
I can't use something like Game Booster on a server.
