A replacement for the stock Phalanx Class, using Michael Kelly's model.

Some alternate assimilation textures for people who don't like the nacelles turning green.

hm, looks like something went wrong when adding the graphics from the FO assimilation textures. Colors are a bit strange and the alpha channel is lost, using a seperate layer for the "assimilation coolness devices" might solve the issue ^-^

I copied them onto a seperate texture, like the stock game did. I just deleted the 'unnecessary' lights Starfleet ships have over the hull markings. FO assimilation textures fade to black, so there's always a black border around them.

Which reminds me, how do you add them to FO ships anyway? The stock method (copy the file, add _B to the end) doesn't work on FO ships.

they are added via transparent polygones under the "borg" node in the hierarchy, which is only displayed if the ship is captured by the borg (similar to how armada1 assimilation worked)

STA2 had this green pylon effect, it looked terrible. couldnt you just keep it blue instead?

Way ahead of you and aware that some don't like the effect as much as me.

optec you know the replacemant model you are doing for the phalanx is it going to be more like the other model that is on the website you got the design from. I cant seem to find the link for it but it used to be in your 'links' menu

I would guess very much that Zeich will do a beefed-up model and suiting textures for it himself, however I don't know if the new model will be based on the Phalanx we know and more or less 'like'.

And what link do you mean? If there's any stand-alone model of the Phalanx besides from Tyler's FO-conversion, it's on A2files and perhaps armadafleetcommand and not on fleetops.

The Phalanx was designed by Dax Phoenix I believe, so I think Admiral Max is talking about his original model :)

I'm cheering for an FO-exclusive Zeich-version though  ;)

i found the link [ The Phoenixium v7.5] but the other 'Mark iv' of the phalanx is not in there gallery there was 2. the one that is in fleet ops and the other which looks more like a battle version of the phalanx which would suit Admiral Risner than the other version i think anyway lol. If only i could find a pic to show you

Yep we will follow the original design closely.
It's not yet sure who will do the model, but if Zeich wants to.. There is more then enough other stuff on todo, I wont get task-less :sweatdrop:
A veteran version might of course contain a few new elements
The new Phalanx ToDo is not ultimately urgent, as there is a lot of more urgent stuff at the moment for further development :) But we are looking forward to redo her. It's quite an old model by now

Personally I like the FO version better.

@Optec:
Can I make some suggestions? Not all would agree, but I just think these could 'improve' the Phalanx quite.

1] Give the bussard collecters a full do-over. Seriously, I have grown to kinda want better collectors. If possible, could you maybe to a trinity bussard design? (The collectors is broken into three segments, two on top and one on the bottom. The bottom collector being 'pulled-back' into the nacelle having a concave design while the two top ones are a bit between a TNG and a Descent Bussard).

2] "Aztec" the Inter-cooler segments. Basically the intercooler segments would be in patterns of interlocking shapes that would 'fit-together' like puzzle pieces. This would simply give the Phalanx a somewhat more unique inter-cooler design that still fits the rather flat nacelles.

3] Add an effect to the pod module. Basically the Borg Diamond has strobe lights in the inner hull. Maybe we could do something similar to the pod to give a more unique taste.

It is not necessary to do these. But its just that I think the Phalanx deserves some new details and renovation.

With the patch renaming the cost code, this has been updated.
