All numbers are not finalized - if we decide that the values need to increase or decrease, we'll change them accordingly
Currently the veteran steamrunner has not been implemented. We are still in alpha, and thus focusing on playability and balance, rather than eyecandy or "goodies" at the moment ^-^
Yes, 086gf is correct, the Steamrunner model has not changed.

im not worried about the changes to the steamy, actually i love em!. The thing im a little bit worried about ist the area damage that can be caused by ships with offensive profile. I remember a fleet of ranked akiras ... and what they did to a bigger warbird fleet ... it was gruesome.

In addition to the new offensive profile there will be vessels with a defensive profile. In the past things have always been balanced and i trust it'll be no different this time.

When I was reading the last news post, about the new "autotargeting system" (offensive class, defensive class, etc.) I didn't liked it all. I still think that is one of the most annoying aspects of the whole game. (I mean not beaing able to tell the ships what to shoot on while on the move, without loosing "momentum") Yet I still think it would be better just to implement one configurable button (for example ctrl) to tell the ships what they should try to target, making it independent from the normal "move" or "attack move" command. After this new post, it starts to make more sense now.
I hope it will be as fun to play, as you plan guys.
Thanks for keeping up with the news. It makes less "painful" to wait for the next patch, and I honestly think a lot of people are looking forward to it.

Hi Optec having read the post I really like the changes to the stream runner. It looks like it well be a great snipe vessel, especially with extra firepower. Also keeping the engine shut down ability is great. Should make interesting tactical play, also it opens up a baiting possibility for skirmish engagements
. I've noticed against the AI, it seems to treat artillery units as a special target moving in to specifically target such vessels. I'm thinking of the Romulan's artillery ships specifically, in my skirmishes these guys always seem to get attacked first and chased like crazy. One question though, if the distortion field is going to be the steam runners ability, what going to happen with the sovereign class? Could we perhaps see the return of the anti torpedo shield? (Think it was walled the corbomite reflector).

The dev team has hinted that the Sovereign is being remade into something more akin to a flagship. However, there has been no public information as to special it'll receive; we're still waiting on a dev blog about it (hint, hint Dominus).
