Oh, simply wonderful. Love that you've realigned the akira and changed her armament and role.. can't wait for more tasty tidbits.

A more powerful Akira, music to my ears! Excellent news, defense patterns stays or it's gone? Great job guys. The nacelles look different or what?

How exactly does this weapon work... is it like a self-targeting cannonimp that launches a uball That uses Vector Calculation on the akira, and 2 other vessels?

interesting, sounds like it's taking over the role of the e2, torpedo hose.
will e2 get moved down to antares/cassi and become a more general ship?
will the akira inherit the weaker speed of the e2?

excellent, i always thought the akira should of been abit more up the line in power. when you say
"She's now a very capable ship for raiding"
does that mean the akira is alot faster?
sounds like its going to be the powerful ships it seems to be in first contact
(any excuse to post this scene again)

Sounds like a whole bucket of fun raining on whoever's in range now.
Though, this does imply there will be less of them around now...I'm kind of torn.

If the Akira is getting some sort of hanger, that means fighters are probably getting more important. Will other races get them?Anyways, looks great!

I like the sound of the new akira but i do agree with nutter it is now in the large yard meaning no old akira rush tactic and it also sounds like itll be quite a bit more expensive also meaning that they wont be around as much. But again i love the sound of the new akira and its new special sounds awesome even though i didnt like the old one

she's already got the hanger, it gives fighters a backup place to go if the carrier is destroyed.
maybe they're changing the mechanic of that passive.

The Excelsior II's role indeed does change - we'll have a separate newspost on her special playstyle, as she diverges a bit from traditional Fleet Operations unit roles. She's still available from the Eraudi Yard, as your no-requirements vessel.
The Akira is actually a bit slower than it used to be, but it is still quite fast compared to ships like the Avalon, Excelsior II, and so on.
The Akira's position in the Eraudi Yard does still allow a "rush": you just won't be able to double yard them with any ease.

With the Steamrunner going mainstream and basically taking the spot previously held by the Akira it was to be expected that the Akira would get a new role.
Having said that, having a relatively small old design taking a spot on the Eraudi yard seems wrong somehow.
With the new role and probably potent firepower it's probably a good idea to move the Akira to a yard for more advanced/powerful vessels, but i hate to see it leave its trusted spot on the basic yard.

Hey!!!
Well, I guess this confirms a long time hunch that Akira was getting bumped up to eraudi.
It seems like we already knew that, but good to see all the tidbits of information about what she gets while she's in that yard.
Do we know the last ship yet for the casseopeia ? yard yet? I seem to remember the post earlier, wasn't it like sabre for both, monsoon/intrepid/steamrunner for one, and canaveral, remore, and (blank)?.
Considering there was only one blank spot left for those early yards, and that akira wasn't really a support ship, she was getting moved to eraudi. But yeah.

That would be the Calypso.

Mmm, Akira. It's long been my favourite of the Antares yard vessels, to the point where it crowds out other ships. When playing against Merciless Romulan AI it's my favoured initial response to the Warbird spam and becomes very mean at officer levels.
Seeing as those are two of the three slowest combat ships the Federation fields, I'd hope it's faster than that! My guess is 100 or 90. Hopefully 100.Dominus_Noctis wrote:The Akira is actually a bit slower than it used to be, but it is still quite fast compared to ships like the Avalon, Excelsior II, and so on.
