Nice. Fighters will be a nice addition. I imagine not only using this for fleet action, but only for the fighter transfer. Getting one early could stay home to defend & provide fighters to other ships to use in raiding. One question, can the fighter transfer be used on other carriers?

I wonder if an option could be made to produce fighters in batches of 3-5 from any yard. It could be required that the build be allocated to a nearby qualified hanger bay ship. So akira, intrepid sovereign etc must be nearby. Then you pay a very small resource cost to quickly produce a group of fighters that fly into the hanger bays. Say 100 d 100 t, and the build select must be paired to an already built ship. You could build two akira out of an eraudi yard, then quickly spam 10-15 fighters to bunker up before engaging in an offensive. Would be neat.

intrepid with fighters, well i guess the delta flyer could fit in the intrep shuttle bay, why not entire fighter squadrons? the size of that door is very flexible.

i do like the idea of giving fighters to other ships. i presume over time that this would allow carriers to multiply a fighter screen for your entire fleet.

I bet this took a lot of coding. If you capture an enemy vessel that produces a different type of fighter (say the Dominion one), will it store which types of fighters have been transferred to which vessels and how many of each type of fighter that one specific vessel has? Something like this could be devastating to an unsuspecting admiral. I can imagine that a good portion of the early-start strategies will have you building at least one or two Avalons, with one shipyard producing the main fleet with another one also having the main fleet plus a few of Avalons in the mix.

Good information, but will it still cost a ludicrous 50 supply?

You can transform your battle-star into a space carrier, transporting on-board some fighters. I read about this idea on this forum and I made a try and this work.
First you need to adapt the assembler ship technology to your space carrier. Then, when you arrive to your destination, you can launch into space your fighters. The process is that you assemble your fighters in the space and then launch them into the action to fight with the enemy. In the "Star Wars Empire at War" your space carrier launch instantly the fighters. In the Fleet Ops, you need to build them. So, the other of my mods for Fleet Ops, will contain "real" space carriers with fighters on-board :-)

Yes, but can they transport jet fighters on-board ?

At the risk of sounding stupid I'm gonna ask this question - just to make sure. The Avalon will have valkarie class fighters as her standard compliment, but when sending an escort to another vessel it will be the Peregrine class?

@miklosgoThe Sovereign surely can - as it has impressive shuttlebays visible on blueprints and the model itself. The Defiant has a few "micro-shuttles" docked in the hull - no real shuttlebay at all.

that's not a stupid question at all. i'd like to know this too. the valkyries are mentioned to be armed with quantum pulses (blue pulses), while the picture of the peregrine shows standard phaser pulses.

so it's possible both fighters are used simultaneously. also very possible is that it was a slip of the tongue and the avalon only uses peregrines for everything.

That's actually correct. The Avalon itself launches the new Valkyrie Fighters. The older Peregrine Fighters are easier maintained by other spacecrafts and have their appearance in the Fighter Transfer.

Are fighters still single fighters, or in groups of two now? Maybe they just changed the ratio of the number various Starfleet vessels could support, which would make sense with the Akira becoming a battleship and all the fighters it's hosting, but the Intrepid seems to also be housing more too. What is the fighter cap for various vessels and this ability? Do they lose the fighters over time regardless of if they die or not? And just to be clear, when the Avalon uses the transfer ability it replaces that lost fighter sent over with a new one? Cause I'm assuming that is what everyone is getting from the article, but I feel a bit lost when I see so many other fighters grouped to what used to be a low number of fighter capable ships with no real clear explanation of what's going on with the Avalon. Just an implied one.I just get the feeling this might make the feds overpowered, but we'll see when this patch is finally released.
