the force of a nuke will kill all borg in the blast radius so if they fired a nuke as mentioned above to the coordinates picard mentioned in first contact to data, borg will die

well of course the explosive force would kill them :lol: but as they are apparently immune to radiation, it's unlikely that the real power of the nuke would be useful, you see, whilst the ability to vaporize things in the blast radius, the most powerful thing about it is the radiation left over, preventing you from rebuilding that base, city, building whatever, that's the only reason I'd use a nuke on the borg, would to be kill them with the radiation, not cause immediate damage.

Teh-plaf, You have no windows computers? The only reason I put Linux on my laptop rather than my desktop is because my laptop is ****, and I needed Linux, and the only reason I keep this POS windows thing around is for the games :lol:

4 of 11, doesn't a warpcore use magnetic shielding and what not to keep the stuff stable? So why not beam a warpcore on board with a thermal detonator taped to it? :lol:

because warp cores are expensive and extremely dangerous you dont see 5 warp cores per ship do you

Yes, indeed, how do people get all these things if they don't use money?

Also, the warp cores would obviously have to be secured somewhere in the centre of the ship to keep them safe, and they aren't dangerous unless there is matter and anti-matter loaded into correct? Well, keep those in containers on opposite ends of the ship, preventing them from mixing without express order. See what I mean? Sure it would take some security, but the fact is, they'd be amazingly lethal weapons...

I have a question...I've noticed starbases and stations don't use warp cores, because obviously, they don't go into warp...They use powerplants (The "warpcore" on a starbase in Bridge Commander) How do these powerplants work? I'm assuming they don't use fuel rods like a nuclear plant :lol: anyone know?

Yes, I think it is, because I remember in bridge commander them saying something in relation to that...however it would be extreamly slow moving and take many many "tug boats" heh...

well I dont know about stations, but they tried (succesfully i think) in TNG to tractor a comet(Weselys idea of course), and in DS9 pilot they moved the station near the wormhole with the stations thrusters :omg: :sweatdrop: :wacko:

They moved DS9 with some kind of sheild bubble, but it had rotational thrusters, do Federations Starbases have them?

well its obvious its just some kind of anti matter matter fusion plant it wouldnt anything else

they do have thrusters probably for minor orbit changes im assuming

It provides the same reactions as a warpcore does except not for the purposes of propulsion. You have to think though, how much power a station like that would need, to support all of its weapons, shnuttle facilities, docking facilities, personel and Shields. (As well as thrusters but I chose not to list them as they are debateable).I believe that stations are built and then towed to their location much like in SFC III, or they could simply be constructed on the spot like in Armada II, its all very possible, but they are permanent installations.

with a station, you don't really have a size limitation, so you could use as many powercores as you want, and make them as big as you need. so there really isn't a problem with the power supply.

Well, the size limit is debatable, depends on the purpose of the station, if it's a military outpost bigger isn't always better, you would want it as compact as possible, command several over powered weapons ect...So their would be a size limit depending on the reason for the station.

As to the building on the spot I find that highly unlikely, not only does it (most likely) take months, possible years, but it's also insecure, the rommies could come in cloaked and sabotage it, they would need constant fleets patrolling the sector to keep the construction safe :P it's a big, expensive target when it isn't operational yet :lol:

agreed . but we need some kind of super station. mayby a non buildable DS9!
