Anyone heard of Garena, from what iv read it is a vpn that will work with any lan game, it also has chat capabilities like wippien, perhaps this could be a viable replacement for the extremely buggy wippien?

What do you think?

I'm all for finding a new system.  I looked at their FAQ page to find out what games they support.

The latest version of Garena supports several games including DotA, Warcraft 3 : The Frozen Throne, Call of Duty 6 : Modern Warfare 2, Left4Dead 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty 5: World at War, Left4Dead, Killing Floor, Red Alert 3, Counter Strike 1.6, Counter Strike: Source, Starcraft, Call of Duty 2, Borderlands, Battlefield 2, Enemy Territory, H.A.W.X, TrackMania, Age of Empires 1: The Rise of Rome, Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors, Dawn of War, and Quake 4.

We will be supporting more games in future versions.

It looks like it only supports these games.  I'd love to be wrong, though.

From whats iv read in wiki it is a vpn just like wippien, so they are listing popular games as they have dedicated servers for those where you connect via vpn. Others involve a connection like we do with wippien but i imagine it is far more stable than wippien. Altho yeah i maybe wrong i last used Garena some time ago, but its something to look into as almost every has issues with wippien and some cant work it at all.

Eraldo, I've downloaded it and registered.  My username is Malvauk.  I've got 30 min if you want to see if we can connect and make a game work.

Bah, you're offline.  Anyway it does look like it has a vpn function, maybe this will work out for us. ^-^

I'll test it out with you right now.  Chat with me on wippien and then when we get it figured out we'll log out of that and see if it works.  I see now that you have to pick a game. :pinch:  We can try anyway.

Just tried it with stardust, no luck.  We send buddy requests and neither of us gets them, even though we're able to find each other in the system.  Hopefully there's a way to make it work.

I'll gladly test as well - although I was reading some FAQ they had there... and it said it doesn't support Vista 64bit... though that wasn't corroborated elsewhere  :sweatdrop:

Sorry guys, I forgot my link in my previous post, I was actually referring to another client, Comodo EasyVPN, which looks like wippien but simpler and your own email address is your account name :)

When you do test, just join the network "fleetoperations" pasword "password". So far we've had 2 successful tests yesterday, with minimal lag and hundreds and hundreds of units in play :)
