Hello!
So since 3.1.1 came out I'm happy to say we've easily DOUBLED the number of new players that seem to be frequently online for playing. This is fantastic!
I lieu of having many of those balance threads claiming "ROMUNLANS OP BECAUSE THEY CAN CLOAK SO EASILY" or "FEDS NEED A BOOST BECAUSE KLINGON KVORTS EAT ME ALIVE", how about we make a thread here where you can ask for advice if you find yourself getting your ass handed to you over and over by certain strategies.
Or just handed to you in general .
Dominus' Guide is usually a great place to find appropriate ways to counter things, and his new "Unit Analysis" sections should help that additionally, but indeed there is a lot for him to update and adding strategies takes lots of testing and lots of time. Here we can discuss excellent ways of:

- What vessels make a strong force for each faction

Well, here's the pessimistic core right now. In all honesty, most of the strats in the guide (except for Romies and the Borg) will work just fine... in the next version . Current version calls for... SPAM!
Klingons...
B'rel spam versus Dominion.
K'vort spam versus anyone else. Teching up is optional.
Federation
Norway and Warp-In spam if Mayson ---> Excel II's
Intrepid/Monsoon + Akiras if Risner --> Warp In
Dominion
A-20's --> S-2 ---> V-13-Battleship spam
Romulans (good luck)
Either start with a few Rhienns with phase plates, then move to Leahvals... or start with Leahvals right away.

Here is what I find effective.
Federation (Against All Non-Borg):
- Quickly shoot out Sabers at the beginning of the game to quickly start a fighting force.
- Research both levels 1 and 2 chassis research (can be done during the Saber shoot out, once your first set of Sabers is out research the Hyperimpulse and other yard special weapons after you shoot out their corresponding chassis)
- Shoot out Akiras paired with some Intrepids
- By mid game you should start Warping In ships (if you correctly did the early game shoot out, you wouldn't really need Warpins that early)
- Near Late Mid-game you should have the large yard up. At this point you should start shooting out Excel IIs quickly. And then shoot out Soveriegns when available.
Federation (Against Borg):
- Early game is same format
- Mid game you should force out more Akiras and Intrepids
- Late Game is when you will be pumping out Sovies like no tomorrow
Klingons (Against Feds):
- Early game is all about K'Vorts and B'rels
- Mid Game is all about Vorchas, Sangs, and either the LuSpet (Martok) or the Veqlaragh
- Late game is just Vorchas and Negh'Vars being the mass of your fleets
Klingons (Against Dom or Rom):
- Early game is all about the KbeajQ
- Mid Game is Vorchas, Sangs, and Vutpas (refits preferably)
- Late Game is purely ChonaQs and Negh'Vars
Klingons (Against Borg):
- Early and Mid Game is not all that specific, variety is good, though ships with higher defense values is suggested.
- Late game is Massing Negh'Vars, no questions asked.
Romulans (Against Feds):
- Early Game is all about your Avatar specific vessels, your Leahvals.
- Mid Game is Generix (Preferably Dread Refits) and Leahvals.
- Late Game is all Norexans, D'Deridex, and a Tavara
Romulans (Against Klings or Dominion):
- Early and Mid Game is same (except Frigate refits are more prefered)
- Late Game is Norexans, your late game Avatar ship, and the Tavara
Romulans (Against Borg):
- Basically it is all holding out until you get your warbirds pumping out. Once then you have to start massing them.
Dominion (Against Feds):
- Early game is all Bugs and Bombers
- Mid Game you send out your C-11s, more bugs, and Warfrigates (if you can afford them, if not Escort cruisers are fine)
- Late Game is all about V-13s plus your Avatar ship
Dominion (Against Kling and Rommies):
- Early game is all Bugs! Spam them!
- Mid Game is all Warfrigates (and Breen Cruisers if you have them)
- Late game is a free for all
Dominion (Against Borg):
- All ships with good range or high defensive value is recommended all through
I'll post borg strategy next.

i have to disagree on that (dominion part).. tho i'm not sure.. never tryied this strategy against dominion but KbeajQ against bugs??
KbeajQ have medium range and Bugs have bonus against medium ranged ships

Yeah I'm definitely gonna go with Kvorts/Brels against Dominion. They outrun the Bugs and can be made WAY faster. Also the Kvorts just steamroll destroyers.
KbeajQ are still great, they just are not fast enough to produce except out of your starbase.

Let me help you with that phrase...

Lol Dom you're a tit, too.
They aren't as fast cause they're 360 beams. They will definitely do well Against Bug ramming but eat extra damage from the beams. A Ram won't come close to killing a KbeajQ though which is nice and both for Taq and Martok the KbeajQ special is devastating to a bug.
It's just a trade-off, but right now the K'vort is so good there's really no need to use the sad KbeajQ .

Ok... what else would you happen to disagree on?
Besides, this is what I find effective. If you have other disagreements, please say so. And I'll give it a try.

Dont know why your giving advise to new players seeing as how you never play online so you have no valid tactics, play AI is nothing compared to playing a person. Most of those tactics would not work agaisnt people, and pairing intrepid's and akiras is not smart due to the weapons range.
