All Good Things...

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Ok, so I’ve got some good news, some really great news, some news that’s not so great, and some news that's fairly exciting! :woot:

The good news is I graduated from university in May!  I’m pretty excited about that, as it’s been a long road, but a very rewarding one.  The graduation ceremony was fun, too.  I got to walk across a stage and have my name announced to a bunch of people who don’t know me, I got to shake the hand of some lady I don’t know and pretend like I got my diploma that day (the actual diploma is mailed; it just arrived), and some dumb kid with a shirt that said “hippie 4 life” with flowers in his hair tried to run across the front of the stage, but instead was tackled and arrested by the police!  Usually one has to pay for that kind of entertainment! ^-^

In addition to that good news, I’ve got some really good news about the future.  I’m going to be working on a master’s degree in Israel for two years.  I’m pretty excited, as this is an excellent opportunity for me and is going to be quite the adventure.  I’ll also end up being fluent in Hebrew and that will start me nicely on a personal goal of mine to be fluent in several different languages. :)

Now for the news that’s not so great.  Sadly, I really don’t think I’ll have time for a lot of games, and that includes Fleet Operations.  I’ll be too busy hitting up the beach and talking to impossibly gorgeous women to have time to fast tech to Vorchas. :whistling:

I don’t intend to turn this into a “goodbye” speech or anything, as I’ll still try and be on the forums.  It’s not like I’m going away forever or anything.  But I wanted to write this and let you guys know what’s been going on in my life, and to take the time to say thank you to everyone.  All of us make up the Fleet Operations community.  And while nothing’s perfect and we have our disagreements from time to time, I feel like we’ve got a decent group of men (and like, two women!) on these forums. :)

Now for some news that’s fairly exciting!  The podcast website that I have been using to learn Hebrew has been giving away some free lessons.  If you want to learn some words in Hebrew, then this is a great way to try it.  Their “beginner’s pack” includes full access to fifteen audio lessons, fifteen reading tutorials, and more than twenty interactive learning games and tools.  Signing up also increases the chance for me to win a few round trip tickets to Israel, which would really help me out, because Mal is very poor. :(  So if you want sign up just to help me out, that would be great! :woot:

Here is the link to sign up

When you click on the link, just type in your email address and the password you want, click the little box that says you’ve read the terms of use, and you’re set.  They won’t spam you with a bunch of emails, and it’s very easy to unsubscribe from getting emails, as most of them have links for unsubscribing, or it’s very easy to contact the site, so no hassles there.  As an added bonus, when you click on the link, you’ll learn my name if you don’t know it already.  It’s as if I held a press conference and told the world I was Iron Man! B)

Again, I do want to thank you all for a great experience on these forums.  In many ways, we’ve grown together, and I want to thank you for your support and friendship over the years.  Now no sappy goodbyes, as I’ll still be around for at least another 6 weeks, will still be able to read the forums, and perhaps play a few games if I have time.
And thanks to you, Optec, Doca, and staff.  You guys have a pretty good thing going here, and I want to thank you for the community and this fun game that you have made.  I can’t wait to see what you’ll do over the course of the next few years.

Oh yeah like "beaches and babes" is a bad thing  :whistling: congratulations though seems youve got a ton of good stuff coming your way.

On a personal note, I'd take beaches and babes over flops any day  :innocent:

All the best man, I'm on the way to a Bachelor's degree myself. Hope you have fun down there!  From what I hear up here it's supposed to be a really cool and really crazy place, with some rather dangerous regions. Hope you'll be safe. Remember that with WLAN and multi-tasking, you can be at the beach AND playing FO on your laptop. It's exactly what I do, though we don't have beaches here.

Well done Mal, good like in Israel

But look out for the Mossad...  :cloak:

:D

But anyway, as you say you want to learn some languages, maybe if you want to in the future you can learn some Russian and hopefully by then I will have done my college course in Russian and we can gab on and have no one else understand what we are saying  :D

До свидания, товарищ!

BTW, I did NOT use Google Translate for that one :D
