Artemis: Multiplayer Life as a Bridge Officer
Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Anyone see this article on Wired.com? Anyone play this game? It sounds cool, and I was just complaining the other day that to many games have done away with at home multiplayer and that even computers were opting to drop LAN. I like playing with friends, but I also like to be able to pass them the joint when we're playing too. Can't do that online...
Wired Article:

Here's the site for the game itself:

It sounds cool in theory, playing a ship from a bridge officer's perspective. Some aspects need to be developed further, like a tougher AI, hopefully better graphics from what I see. But it does look interesting, and I want to play it. Now to find two other friends at least to play it with.
Here's a video of some people playing it. They're over acting a bit, but it looks very entertaining. Seems more chaotic as well, like the conversation style would be that of a real ship at war. Constantly talking over each other and having to quickly process the information while relaying commands for what to do next.

According to the site, if you record your "crew" playing the game and submit it you could win the game for free if they choose your video to put up in their media section. Which is where the above video comes from. Seems cool, they have about 15 winners so far that all received free copies.

Who ever did post-production on that video took a little too much inspiration from JJ. Lens flair...BLEH! And there aren't even any lights in the room to account for it!!
The game however looks pretty cool. The irony is while it's clearly Star Trek inspired, to the point the the game interfaces is LCARS inspired, yet there is absolutely nothing to do with Star Trek in the game. I think if it became explicitly Trek it would be even more attractive.
So, how long before someone goes all out and builds a mockup bridge complete with touch screens. Despite being a massive (not to mention expensive) under taking, it would be epic.

That's to funny, Mal! You planning on using that as your video for a free copy? Cause it could win if done right.
Also Atlantisbase, I'm not sure, but it'd be pretty awesome to see someone playing this on a custom made bridge. And yes, it is Star Trek inspired, they just didn't use the property name for copyright reasons and to avoid paying out huge money to Paramount.

WOAH, this could be awsome.
Actualy, with stuff like rock band being popular, howbout a 'starship bridge' version of rock band. Comes with touch consoles (with Romulan, Klingon, and Federation overlays) and you get bonus points for flinging yourself arround when the consoles explode. Or ranomly falling over dead if you're a redshirt.
But yeah srsly, this could actualy be one of the best games ever.
Imagine a MP game like this, but were newer players or clam/group/whatever freinds can assist as bridge crew.
