How do you know you need to turn off the game?

Imagine spending years devoting your time and your finances to acquiring an impressive video game spaceship, one of the biggest and most valuable the gaming world has ever seen.
Now imagine all of that work being destroyed in minutes.

The constant conflation of real-world value to in-game items is one of the reasons I stopped playing EVE. It's a unique game, with a magnificent economy, but it's gotten so far up its own ass I find it no longer fun.

MadHatter, would care to specify? Maybe share some examples and anecdotes? I've been thinking about whether to play it or not for a while and would like to know what you have to say about it!
