How do you make a Sci-Fi series instantly better?

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Yeah, that song was pretty good.

Lexx started out nice, but it ended up way too silly for my tastes.

Still was one of the better sci fi series out there.

I never got why people liked B5 so much, every plot got moved forward by either sheer stupidity or the fact that those black shirts  ^-^ couldn't hit anyone

It's all a matter of taste, no different to you liking Enterprise while many other Trekkies would claim such a thing.

On Babylon 5 I only liked the interaction between Mollari and G'Kar. The only two characters I kinda cared about (at least until Mollari went out of character and became the shadow's puppet which messed it up for me).

The human characters however really annoyed me by behaving like children all the time.

Yea I didn't mind Mollari becoming bad because it made sense but then he suddenly grew a conscience and I was like ok I guess  :ermm:

Sounds like you gave up during the first season (unless black shirts means Shadows, who actually just missed when firing at main characters, they tended to hit everyone else.) It gets better later in.

I had a very different impression. The story lateron ruined the characters I cared about or made pointless additions to them, replaced characters I cared about with dumb and uninteresting ones. The plot got weirder and weirder from season to season and I totally lost my interest to go on watching it. For example, the only thing about Sheridan that I liked was his common backstory with Delenn, however Sheridan was not a very intelligent person (he asked questions about self-explanatory things so he totally sucked). Not to mention Lennier throwing his actually interesting "weird-monk-style" away for becoming a Ranger, which was out-of-character in a very dumb way.

Yea I totally agree that characters just got dumb and the plots were just weird, and by black shirts I mean the security guys for B5

I actualy think Lennier's joining the rangers was more of a devolpment for his characther that fit the changes shown in his culture.

Think about it, in the start the mimbari were a caste based culture, then Delins changes and the shadow war threw that into whack, it was just his way of adapting to the changes.

Plus as I understood it Lennier was quite  young in the begining of the show, so if he was young making a major change as his whole culture undergoes changes made sense.

As for season to season dumbing down, I think it progressed quite nicely for the most part, however the way some bits were handled. Geraboldi's getting whacked out by the psicorps for example, he was one of my favorite characthers and that kinda ruined it, of course I dunno if that was result of other issues like the actor not having full time to devote or something. The way they did the shadow allies after the war I didnt really like. Molari for example, his interaction with G'kar was ruined by that.

Now the final season I really didnt like.

So B5 wins the war... sherridan leaves for Earth to take over ....... and some random earthforce chick takes over AND you have PsiCorps allowed to still exist and cause trouble.

That said, it was pretty much entirely the script, the actors did a prety good job.

Tho I still wonder why Checkov was in a Psi Corps uniform.  :whistling: :P
