If you go to google earth and put your start point at china then your end point japin.

Look at number 51 in the directions.

#51 is reasonable, it's number 42 (!) that you should take a look at.

No, 42 makes sense, it's POSSIBLE at least.

51 makes more sense than 42, though.

A lot of routes have been flown that cars can't follow...

Well google seems picky about what water routes it'll allow, some are just gag ones yeah, but its inconsistent.

Tho I suppose if THAT route were possible to plan using google maps someone would protest them and cry about it.
