What would you like to see in Armada 3?
Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

I dont really think there would ever be an Armada3 but if there was I like to see more races and a mission editor.

i realy don't like what maddoc did with the nice armada1 system.. a successor of armada2 with the same gaming system would be quite boring.. i mean, wha can you use in armada2 besides battleships? a galor or a cube (fusion cube!) is overwhelming if you don't have a battleship yourself.. therefore i would like a new armada2 with a new and more powerful engine and ai possibilities for modding, but i wouldn't like an armada3 .. i don't think there will be one..

Once FleepOps has reached GOLD it might as well be Armada III
The only thing it would need then is a better AI and gfx engine and your sorted

i think that theres not much more to do that has not been done in either a1 or a2, if i was going to make an a3 i'd probably make it a kinda RoN/civ3/galacticciv style RTS with a timeline system, the ability to do stuff like adavnced diplomacy, researching anomilies, upgrading/refiting units, real trade, multiple resources (kinda like startrek RoN in space) minor races and more use for planets (like anchors for stations, and for building construction projects on) give the game a completely new play style (were you can win by more peaceful means like diplomacy, or just build a huge army and wipe everyone out) either that or just make the game more like a1 with a2's good parts and add a mission editor/mod manager ^_^

it seems to was activisions plan to make a star trek game from every genre..
Commandos - Away Team
Quake, Half Life - Elite Force
Civilisation, Master of Orion, Alpha Centaury - Birth of Federation
Starcraft - Armada
...
Armada1 was quite suitable for the role as a rts game.. in Armada2 they made the mistake to implement to many fan wishes The game becomes to 'Super Unit fixated' and lost its strategy part. In my opinion Armada2 is more a action then a strategy game

There's several things that I like in A2 better than A1. For one, the number of ships you can select at a time. I'd LIKE for it to be like RA2, where you can select an infinite number of units at one time. And the little waypoint button and "select all units/all units on screen" button. THOSE are usefull. But it's still better than the 8 ships you can select in A1. And same thing for the building Queue. BIGGER. The production queue should be the same size as the number of units you can select. The planet system in A2 is better as well. The Borg still stink, but the Tacticle Fusion Cube makes'em a bit better. The 3d map thing is not that great. It's more realistic, and I just love that way of thinking, but they made it to the piont where it's too easily abused. People put stations up as high as possible, where you can't see them unless your right on top of them.
Now, the BIG problem in A1, and especially certain mods (like STvsSW), is that the ships are soooo incredibly weak. They're like extremely expensive tissue paper. That leads to gross ammounts of whoreing. VERY bad. I'm SOOOO glad to see that godawful problem fixed, or at least minimized, in this mod. In all the FO games i've played so far, I dont' htink I've had over 200 ships. In the numerous A1 games, I don't think i've had LESS than 200 ships. And when people DO try to whore a certain ship, like one of the guys I useually play A1 with, they fail miserably because having just one ship class doesn't cut it in this mod. YOu've got to have a good variety of ships to really be an effective fighting force.

My lousy 2 cents
I would like to see a version of armada that lets you start out at the birth of the federation not many enemies but plenty to explore. if possable useing every species and planet from all the star treck movies.then as you progress your sides tecnology and time passes you can run into romulan, federation, cardassion, klingon, vulcan, ect. there fore making each new game completly different as you can fail to merge with the vulcans at the start of the federation.basicaly a game similar to star wars rebellion in the way planets ad systems are used. but A2 style game in that system. build up each system and expand to the next.a game in this way would take 60 plus hours to complete per side. And keep it inline with star treck in the ways that when a strange ship or captured ship is brought to a shipyard and ripped apart they learn maps, tech, ect from the original races ship. a game this large could get extreamly complex but well developed AI would keep building Defences, ships, ect of what was originaly set for that system, allowing that system to defend its self while you concentrate on ather sectors. If thgis Game came to fullfilment think of it starting with romulan, klingon, fed, borg, cardassion, whatever race at its start then going out for conquest or diplomacy as you see fit. to me this game (minumum 60 hours per side) would be better than most game that an be beat in 9 hours at the comp with a case of dew.
the ideas of exploreing a planet finding a lost tech or civilisation that would give your side a instant 20 year jump on your openent for weapons or shields would be very helpfull in diplomacy(or gunship diplomacy as many of us do).. lol my 2 cents

hm yes this is a nice idear.. sometimes i find me thinking "why isn't there a star trek - rebellion with nice grafics and rts parts"..
Such a game would have a quite long development period, cause they will have to write the most dynamic game i have ever seen (for example you will end it a completly different univers if thee is no ally between vulcans and the federation) .. these must be calculated and dveloped in realtime for every party in the whole galaxy (don't think on the borg expansion, whooo)
But such a game would be indeed fun to play, but to develop

Oh god....*drools*....that would be frickin AWESOME. I mean, it'd be incredibly hard to do like Optec said, depending on when you start. If you start just prior to the Earth/Romulan wars, it'd be a decade in development, trying to make a game engine that could cope with all the variables. What happened if the battle of Organia, didn't HAPPEN at Organia and the Organians never stepped in? What if Kirk DIDN'T make it back from teh Mirror Universe? I mean, can you IMAGINE the ton of stuff that would have to be calculated playing from the very beggining? If you played as the Federation and went on a crusade of Gunship Diplomacy, sorta like the Mirror Universe, and instead of stopping the V*Ger Probe, captured it, man o' man....you'd go straight to 29th century tech. Or what if the Borg went for all out conquest instead of the 1 Cube at a time tactic they normally do? An infinite ammount of possibilities exist.

Well, a little off topic, but i didn't want to start a new thread about it.
Anybody ever play Star Trek: New Worlds? It's an RTS (on a planet) with shields, mining, orbital support, ect. Star Trek: Assimilation might also have been not so bad, but it was scrapped. I think game developer have run out of ways to make ship games, and I wouldn't mind new Worlds type, but with multiple cities, planets, and new features. In short, the game would be about cities and colonies on planets, using New Worlds ideas, and orbital support, transport, invasion, ect, all controlled by empires rulers, and you could govern 1 colony at a time and move up to planet size.

The way you select units in RA2 would be somethin you'd kill for....I love those "Select All Accross Screen" and "Select All on Map" buttons..
