Because it had more space battles than any other series. They were dynamic, strategic, and brilliantly intense. Watch this full screen and in HD.

I'm tempted to ask for a Babylon 5 subforum.
Oh, and speaking of free games, this one lets you fly in the cockpit of a starfury with real space physics and everything!

WOW! A .ru website that ISNT spam ?!
And to boot it's doing something awsome!
edit: We should get a group going and get ingame for the B5 mod, that or do a flops conversion of it, especily since some of the races allready use vanilla A2 version of avatar selection.

about the vid: why do people have to put music over everything on youtube, i would have liked to hear some of the original sound effects too, they add to a battle as much as the visuals.
about the game: i played this last time you mentioned it, a bit short overall, and the long periods of flight through the warp space thingy was soooooo boring i practically fell asleep. i have never watched b5 so i dunno what the warp space thingy is called, only that theres a lot of it, and you have to fly for several minutes straight with nothing to shoot i havnt watched any star wars either, but when someone mentioned republic commando was good, i tried it, its actually a really good polished sp game. very enjoyable, needs a sequel to explain what happened to sev.

You must have only done the 3 training missions? It's a pretty complex game, so they had to give you time to get used to it. The main missions could be quite challenging unless you had invulnerability on. I guess if you've never watched B5, then hyperspace might not be so interesting. Being in hyperspace was somewhat dangerous, because you had to stay on the beacon at all times. There were episodes where people were knocked off the beacon and were basically screwed until they got rescued at the last second or got some lucky break. Also, in the show you learn that telepaths can "hear" better in hyperspace, which was important to the game. So you definitely have to have watched the series to fully appreciate it.
I went off the beacon one time and learned exactly what it would be like for someone lost in hyperspace. You're done until your oxygen runs out. So they did a great job of emulating the show in that way.

i played the entire game, until it wouldnt let me play any more. it was quite short imo. they obviously arent done, it was just the currently released campaign. maybe when the others are done it will be normal length.
about hyperspace, it may be realistic, but thats for a simulator game, not the sort of game i wanna play. i dont wanna sit around in hyperspace, id rather the game skipped that bit for me. the game felt more like it was focused on combat, not accurate simulation.

In the series it was more then one time, that the starfurys where hours away .
And here you have a vid with original sound. The vid in the first post is somehow a crude mix of scences from the series and some more or less bad made fancontend.

The battles were nice, but the series couldn't hold my interest.

nobody can play a book until they make it into a game, so I agree with myles. it definitely needs a sequal.

i thought lucasarts stopped the books from having story for what happened after the end of the game, the books that involved sev were set before the mission at the end of the game. lucasarts wouldnt want to be tied down by any novels if they made a sequel game.
