no weapons in that game did much damage :P it will take at least ten minutes to take down a stock akira, with a stock sovvie.
control it yourself and focus on one shield, the weakest whichever that is. the akira is faster than the sovvie so keeping on one shield will be hard, especially since you will need to move between phaser arcs a lot.

ok, thanks, well, i already try to do that, but mostly i fail because i totally forget to navigate right^^

and, as another question, does switching to low power lasers on hull help? manually aiming onto the warp-core too?

low phaser strength limits damage to only happen on one subsystem, if you are just trying to blow it up, just keep phasers high and pick one shield, take it down and keep shooting on high at the bridge or warp core. usually i pick bridge and take the dorsal shields down. but a lot of the time the total hull collapses before the bridge subsystem blows up. focusing on engines sometimes helps and allows you to move around the target. as i said out-flying an akira in a sovvie isnt easy, even though the ai is dumb. settings torps to single fire helps, you'll find you hit more.

a few hints from my side or at least how i play BC:
Always keep your torpedo tubes maintened, if damaged u need to repair em first. Those are your main weapons. keep switching through your phaser arcs and also your shields. oh and: Dont let your officer fly your ship, fly and gun yourself ... thats wingcommander for the big ones :). Use Phaser at full strength, photon torpedeos, exept you really need quantums. Power the shields and the weapons up to 125% in harder fights.

vs a fed ship:
Aim always at the front Torpedo Tubes, at the most ships u can take down 4 of em at once, vs a akaira u can disable 2 at once. Also the ships deal most damage with torpedoes, while the phaser fire is not as critical since it long to deal the damage that is needed to break your shields. Remember: they fly the pretty much the same stuff as you do, so if u think right: what your hurts, will hurt em too.

vs Klingon ships:
against the Brel, simply shoot the warp core. The flying pice of junk looses its weapons if you hit it hard.
against the vorcha, aim for the disruptor cannons, without em its nearly defenceless
both ships have not really strong side and aft shields

vs Cardassians:
Against the Tons of Galors and Keldons u gonna shoot: Aim for the shield generator, and try to get em from the top or the bottom, both are quite weak shields and the ships is a big target. The aft shield suck also but its harder to hit.

vs Kessok ships:
always get em from bottom, there bottom shields suck hard. If aimed right u can take down the shield generator of a Heavy Kessok Cruiser with 1 volley Quantums and a few phaser shots. Caution: There top shield kicks Ass.

Hybrids:
Weak points: aft and bottom shield. Use the Phase Plasma torpedoes to take em down very fast in the Last mission.

thats at least how i do it:)

You forgot Romulan ships... I've heard that taking out their Impulse engines early helps a lot because they repair slower than the other races, and can't stop you hitting them from behind.

impulse engines are a good target on warbirds because of their lack of 360 weapon arcs. I have taken a warbird with a BOP by just staying behind the thing.

thanks for all the input!
i just heard about the kobayashi maru mod, and wanted to ask if it is worth its 1000MB?

and again, your tips really helped much!

Now i have it installed, looks pretty good, but i have one little problem.. i cant seem to change torpedo types anymore. :pinch:

am i doing something wrong? normally with clicking onto the torpedo button over the fire mode selectioon changed the type, but that doesnt work anymore..

also: the phaser arrangement of the sovereign is pretty.. weird ^^

The Sovereign only has one Torpedo type, the Quantum turret is a Pulse launcher. It makes it possible to fire both types together and allows you to use only the Quantum turret for Quantums instead of all topedo launchers.
