(Not sure if this is the right place for this topic, move it if you need to)
I know that the Dev Team (Optec i believe) are fond of the New Orleans class. I have been follow the Star Trek Excalibur project for quite a while very often they put renders of starships online which I think are very cool, and recently they put up some renders of their take on a design for the New Orleans class. So if you would all like to take a look then I will post the link.
Here is the link for the New Orleans class: Nicht unterstüzter Browser | Facebook
In addition here is the link for the entire album, which includes many starships: Nicht unterstüzter Browser | Facebook

their model is ok, but i think they have the nacelles going back at too sharp an angle.

I agree. Also, the torpedo launchers are one of its most characteristic features, but they seem rather small and unremarkable on this model.

Actually looks pretty close to the images you can find around I think - the only artistic license I can really make out is behind the command 'bump' and perhaps the impulse engine at the junction of the secondary hull. Not bad at all
EDIT: nevermind I take part of it back - pylons do look a bit too sloped back, and the way the primary meets the secondary hull looks peculiar (and is shaped strangely)

WTF is that deflector?! It has the same deflector style as the Galaxy Class (Its actually build of pieces of Galaxy Models). Quite a bit of other detial is also missing. The bottom pod, for example, is not directly attached to the hull. Yea I'm a New-Orleans fanatic
Ex Astris Scientia - New Orleans Class Reconstruction
here are good pics of the actual study model
The renderings are nice, of course
Its just my little New Orleans ..!
//edit:
Just noted that the deflector does of course appear golden on the model, but that's the same with the Galaxy model (http://employees.csbsju.edu/rsorensen/m ... tm0800.jpg), the proper colors are received through light

Yeah the gold deflector is to match the ones on the Galaxys in Favor the Bold. The ones with the grey necks that was a glitch.

I don't think the initial minor details matter as much as just having the ship ingame
After all, we can just go back and fix it later

I have to disagree with you some mods you play have lots of different units available but they never look like they all go together. One of the things that attracted me to FO is the level of professionalism that the models have.

Kinda twisting his words there, Ray.
I agree with what you said before, Dircome. It's not about the quality of the work, as it all looks professional, just not homogenous. If you put together a fleet of different peoples' work, it will look wrong, as everyone tends to use different shades of colours. It's a problem with many big mods; some federation ships can be almost white, whereas others are dark grey; you end up with a huge patchwork of colour/grey. Of course, it can be fixed by a bit of Photoshopping, but a few authors would take offence.

That can be very true, all of the ships in this game from what i have seen, all seem to fit together well. I think it will be a very cool game when its released.

Sure they matter, but not as much as actually having the ship. I was simply saying that it wouldnt matter at first if the deflector dish was gold rather than blue, provided it was changed later on. After all, Fleetops still has a ways to go before the final product, when alot of ship designs are presumably going to be changed
