Would YOu become addicted to holodecks if they existed?
What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

I saw the episode recently with Broccoli becoming addicted to the holodeck programs. I am 100% sure based on my current addiction with video games with today's technology that I would be a holodeck addict if I had access to that technology. Hell I am just worried about getting the eye thingamajig called Orbis or whatever if it's as good as some of the game developers have said it was.
I would also imagine that this would be a HUGE problem in the future considering how freakin awesome the technology is.
Do you think you would be a holo-addict or not?

If I had a device that generated an infinite number of hot women, I would definitely become addicted to it.
... so yes, um, I guess that's my way of saying yes.

At some point you would feel that the experience is false or lacking something, like Kirk when he was inside the nexus in Generations and the nexus was more complex than the holodeck, or when Data was trying to replicate his emotions after killing a Borg, he has to remove the safety protocol inside the holodeck, just to make it interesting.
Maybe I am the only one that finds all those episodes related to the holodeck a bit silly, it's like evading reality, the best use would be from the design point of view, like Geordie did with the warp engine, of course they then mixed that with the creepy obsession with the engineer that happen to be a hot lady! again a little bit silly.
The sad true is that the holodecks was a writers helper, when they didn't have a good history, here it come the holodeck. The inconsistencies around it are too many to cite them here. even in First Contact they use them to fill a big hole in the plot.

I doubt I'd get addicted. A bit 'focused' maybe, but not addicted.
Considering game addiction happens in real life and the Holodeck is a game or interactive novel taken to VR levels, it's quite a realistic kind of silly. They're just real world computers without the interface.

Yeah, I keep thinking of the people I knew that were literally addicted to WoW, and that was a crappy repetive MMO with cartoony graphics and boring combat.
