8472 Bio Pulse

hi just been checking my 8472 mod and have found out that the Bio Pulse Weapon causes CTD is there a way to fix this ?

At what point does it crash? When they fire the beams to the frigate? Or when the frigate fires the combined beam?

wen the weapon becomes usable if u select one of the ships it ctd

So it could be that maybe it is the beam... maybe you should look to see if there is any miscodings or invalid parameters.

Yeah look through the ODF with a flea-comb.  I bet you 5 gold coins there's a comma out of place :D

8472 Bio Pulse is a old A2 command Boggz (I think it's a classlabel) - I highly doubt looking for a comma out of place would work, as most of the other broken stuff has been due to missing sprite files, techtree stuff, or simply because the coding has been utilized for another FO feature and thus unsupported  :blush:

you can send me a crash report (please change title accordingly) via email or attached here to this thread as file. i'll try to help you find the problem then.

So it's crashing when you select the 8472 ships after the weapon becomes available... This sounds very similar to an error I was getting in Sigma when I selected multiple construction frames in addition to other non-construction frame ships. The game would crash a second after selecting them all. I wonder if there's any connection?

are these reproducible? you can of course send me the crashlogs too, just change the title of the email so i can distinguish them easier

here is the bug report for the 8472 bio pulse  it only causes a ctd when the frigate or battleship is selected  (the only ships with the weapon) once the bio pulse is researched

this could indeed be a bug in fleet operations. thanks for reporting. i'll have a look at that later today and will report back.

edit: yes, that is a bug in fleet operations. the upcoming patch will have this problem fixed. thanks again for reporting

whoo that'll be the 2 8472 issues sorted :P thanks doca if u wanna update the code to be more moddable thats also welcome (hint hint wink wink)

I sadly don't have the report, as it happened a few months ago. I'll gladly recreate it tomorrow when I have time though.  :thumbsup:
