A pod which upgrades values

Is it possible to create a research pod which increases for example the shields or the power of beam weapons, or hitpoints (in general and/or different subsystems) by X percent through your whole fleet without duplicating every corresponding ODF?

The only universal upgrades are shields, weapons, lifesupport, engines, and sensors I'm afraid.

But those pods upgrade the hitpoints of the subsystems and not speed/shields/weapon output/sensor range, right?

no it upgrades it by whatever you tell it to percentage wise i believe...

FO already has this in place for every race at their research centers... even the borg can research a small ten percent boost

None of them modify subsystem hitpoints :) More info about those upgrades here: http://guide.fleetops.net/guide/modding ... esearchpod

Ok, then extending the idea:
Would it be possible to have more than one set of these pods? Like I call one turkeypod_lv2 and 3, and another chickenpod_lv2 and 3, but they both are in fact "weapon_control" type pods? If it's possible, and they are all built, would their multiplier value be stacked, or one level 2 pod knock out the effect of the other?

its stacked but you can find all this information in the guide if you look yourself

As Mark said, it's in the guide, although he partially got the explanation wrong :sweatdrop:

The second upgrade overwrites the first upgrade for sensors, engines, and life_support (the effects are not cumulative).

Just read the section I linked to, should provide your answers :)

I know that a level 3 pod overwrites the effect of a level 2 pod. What I really wanted to know was if it's possible to have MULTIPLE from the pod of the same effect?
Let's say a Torpedo Upgrade Pod level 2, and a Phaser Upgrade Pod level 2 which both give +5% of the total weapon damage. In this case, will I get +10% damage? And if there is a Torpedo Upgrade Pod level 3, which gives +10%, after researching it, will I have +10% or +15% damage (so: it overwrites both level 2 pod, or only its parent pod)?

Well, if you want stacking effects instead of overwriting, I would suggest a replace-weapon.

No, it's not possible - universal upgrades are only applied once to a faction and you can only have one of each type.

As before, weapons and shield upgrades do not overwrite.

Yeah, that would mean about 2.000 more ODFs :P

Did some testing and noticed I made a mistake here that might be of interest:

It's possible to have infinite upgrade pods (not just 2) that overwrite/stack in effects; but they have to be different pods researched in an order (that can be done via FO coding of course).

I've also added some additional information to the guide page which I messed up/improperly tested before.

Great news!
Do the overwrite rules still apply only to sensors, engines, and lifesupport, so weapon and shield upgrades will be stacked or if you want to stack the values you just write a igger number in the upgradeMultiplier value of the latest pod?

Weapon and Shield values will also be overwritten when talking about a separate set of pods. Normally it's just that the second upgrade overwrites the first linked upgrade for all but weapon/shield (because these have two separate functionalities), but because now we are talking about additional pods, there's an additional overwrite in effect for each separate functionality as it is introduced.

EDIT: oh, and in case you didn't see, upgrade level does not have to be 2 then 3, can be switched :)
