Hi, I think this problem wasn't mentioned, yet. Rom and Kling AI tend to stay cloaked in a fighting zone. Even if they reach an enemy base. They just sit there, cloaked, and do nothing. It takes a lot of time before they uncloak and attack. So, if you play with AI in both teams, the one with less races, which have the cloaking technology, wins.

The AI often "protects" a small area with its ships. And they attack everything approaching. But when it uses cloaked ships, it does not uncloak and fight.

This is a little bit annoying. Well, I hope you can fix this sometime.

Darn.  They just taught the AI how to cloak.  Now they just need to teach it when to cloak.

yep, will be improved for 3.0.6, as the Ai will be a little less cloak-fanatic

Awwww.  So a sensor turret and 3 Torp turrets from Mayson will no longer be an impenetrable defense against AI romulans?  ;)

Yah, the AI is a little weird. I was wondering where the AI gets all the resources to send in all this spam one after another cloaked or uncloaked. It doesn't accomplish anything for them, but it can get annoying.

Yeah that and when the klingons send in a fleet of cloaked ships with a couple of uncloaked negvars to stick out like a sore thumbs.

What i hate about cloaked enemies right now is the way your own ships behave. They fire on cloaked vessels first it seems, but cloaked vessels don´t shoot back (or only under very limited conditions). So while your fleet is busy destroying cloaked vessels, all non-cloaked enemy ships happily send your ships to hell, quite annoying.

I also find it funny when a fleet of cloaked ships and another (uncloaked) fleet cross paths. The uncloaked ships automaticaly know to dodge the cloaked ships.

Another great tactic your own ships will use is that when a ship uncloaks in their range they will stop whatever they were doing unless you've locked them into a target, to fire one shot at it, and then change targets instead of finishing it off.

The not-so-pretty collision avoidance. I wonder if it can be removed?

its because the AI doesnt really collect resources, thats merely asthetics to please us, the AI has an unlimited amount of everything and just follows a set build list, if something in its build list is removed it rebuilds it unless its been told not to build it every again in the build list...

and the reason the AI doesnt use resources is because the AI engine part of armada is so basic it doesnt understand how to allocate them and would just cause it to get all confused...

So the game is programed to put a ship in the yard (wireframe in yard build list) and not build to look good?

no the game is designed just so that the ai has ulimited resources... when i said "to be asthetically pleaseing" i meant in the sense that it builds mining stations and mines them and sort of protects them but thats just for us, it doesnt really care about them apart from if you destroy one the build list is incomplete and it has to replace it.

the ai follows everything in that particular races buildlist.aip...

it does really have to construct ships and build stations, it just doesnt need to mine and im pretty sure it doesnt have to research either...

if you make a map and stick no moons in it at all, the AI will still build everything you normally see it build...
