few minutes ago i tested out the assimilation beam again and i noticed that i can keep assimilating a ship even after it cloaked ... definetly need to be changed imo

Yup, an A1/A2 loveliness - probably not fixable for the time being :)

Maybe if finishing the cloaking animation could cause a replaceweapon, then a lot of cloaking issues would be fixed, no ships would follow, transporters would stop as would beams etc.

So would the Holding Beam and Combat Tractor, which are ones that should still work.

Transporting when leaving sensors is actually fixed as of 3.2.2 :)

Even if it were possible to include such a replaceWeapon (which it is not currently), not only would that cause halting movement, but in addition, stop beaming when you can see cloaked vessels, and stop attacking (as well as numerous types of cloak detect, as the effects would be rendered null).

Yeah okay, it was just a suggestion off the top of my head  :sweatdrop:

yup :) Would probably require a hardcode fix, like the cloak-transport issue

so do you think this could be something for the etiquette section of the guide ?
cause i dont think it is fair to continue auto assimilating a cloaked ship and tracking his position because of this ... yeah you could still outrun the assim but what about slower ships ... as long as the assim has energy he can continue assimilating and can see where the cloaked ship is and where it is heading ...

Hm, the problem with that is A) It's not easily enforceable (many people keep their ships on high weapons autonomy, and it brings into question people's "reaction time" with shutting it off), B ) only the Tavara and Serkas (70) are slower than the Assimilator (80). The Cho'naQ is the only unit with the same speed. Every other unit that can cloak is faster than the Assimilator.

oh i thought there are more ships slower or with the same speed as an assimilator ... so thats make this whole problem less dangerous :)

i think that these specials should deny cloak, as they hold the ship still, even if they cloak just shoot at the spot where the beam suddenly stops and you hit them.

if u buy a chonaq and then spend the ludicrous amount of money to get the cloak for the two ships in question (chonaq and neggie) then you deserve to be blue beamed while cloaked.

and if ur tavara is getting blue beamed i wouldnt worry, the tavara has a high crew, blue beaming it is silly. and you should never let a serkas get in blue beam range of an assimilator.

That's why I said it should still work. Changing it to a replaceweapon would cut them at cloak like the evil blue.
