Borg weapons sometimes do no damage.

I've seen this in other patches, but sometimes Borg weapons won't damage a target every now and then.  I've noticed it before, and was apparently too brain dead to post about it. :whistling:  But Dom mentioned it when we were discussing regen vs. nanite factory modules for the assimilator.  You can build these ships, have them attack one another, and maybe 10% of the time no damage occurs.  This also happens with the sphere's energy phaser, I've noticed.  Not sure if this happens against the other races, or is only a hull thing as it is most noticeable with the slower borg weapons, but it looks like the Collective fails to adapt from time to time. ^-^

thats probably cause you damaged a subsystem :)

It also isn't a Borg trait, as far as I know. It should happen with any races weapons.

What about direct hull damage? Did the chance of causing that change?

(since shielded ships now rarely take direct hull damage even if the Grav weapons are "modified")

Like Optec said I'm pretty sure it's because the hits impacted on a sub-system instead of the hull.  Borg subsystems regenerate SUPER fast and have lots of hitpoints, so basically a shot that hits a sub is almost wasted.

So technically, you're right!  It's as if it does no damage :D.  I've only ONCE seen an Assimilator take such a beating that it actually lost a subsystem from just weapons fire.  I was blown away.

I didn't even think about the subsystems.  What's the hit chance for them, like 30% or something?  I'll have to look at that again.  At least now I know it's not a bug.

Actually, that might be a great way to simulate adaption.  You could have an adaption module where you up the hitchance of hitting a subsystem and increase the hp on the hitpoints or something.  That would definitely simulate the kind of adaption seen in the show.

I could easily check the ODF's but ... I'M NOT GONNA!  HAHAHHHAHH!

I'm pretty sure that Weapons and engines are 10% each, with the other three being 7% each.  Could be wrong on the 10% ones though.  It's always in the ship ODF's though.

:crybaby:

Well, I like the way they've done the Borg now, but I was thinking that upping the percentages would give the adaption effect that a lot of people were looking for, as it would seem like the Borg adapted, then the ship remodulated weapon frequencies, fired a couple of times, then the Borg adapt again, etc.  I'm sure there's some unforeseen problem with upping the values like that. :P
