Excellent observation, Captain Obvious. However it does not help answer my question.

I think it could be a missing sound file. Anyone know the name of that file?

cheater.wav :)

did you delete the file in order to silence the voice that shouts cheater? if so then you could be right in saying the missing file causes the crash, i know that deleting the button sound causes a crash with the new fmod engine (3.1.4 and above). you can reduce the volume of the file though, so try reduce it by a ludicrous amount, say 99.9% so you wont hear it, but the game wont crash when its played.

also dont call tokra captain obvious, thats grossly overstates his worth, try corporal obvious.

cheater.wav is indeed missing, although I didn't remove it. strange... Anyone got a copy?

I just spit my drink on my keyboard laughing.  :woot:

I run Linux (couldn't afford windows with my last used computer, and grew to like Linux), and so I only bother upgrading if I feel it is REALLY time to, as sometimes there are problems, and DOCA must be fed up helping me fix them by now. So I'm still on 3.1.4

Wouldn't copying and renaming another file work?

is your keyboard waterproof?

you should get windoze xp, should be cheapish. and if u make the independent choice to pirate windoze 7 that would work too.

probably, but then the wrong sound would be used :P

attached is an original copy of the file, feel free to use a program such as audacity to lower the volume. i know that is supported.

I might could, or use an empty (silent) wav file, just didnt think of it.

Keyboard is supposedly water resistant, I just built the computer a week ago.

I would rather run Linux than have to deal with the effort of pirating and maintaining windows. Plus, WINXP would'nt run on a PC made for vista if drivers were never wrote for it  :( and vista is just....eeew.
More good quality trouble and nag-free free stuff for linux too, it seems. (at least when I switched). I don't run around shouting how good linux is like some, but I definitely am happier with it. I could afford 7 now, but most of my games run under WINE just fine.

Thanks for the file, Myles.  :D

If you are a student you can get windows 7 for pretty cheap (free or $30) if your not then its expensive.

I've been leaning on getting an OEM version. I always could use another hard drive, and that qualifies me legally. Since I would only use it for gaming ( I like my OS now) I could probably go with Basic, right?

You might be able to get away with Basic, but there's a lot of stuff that's been stripped out. I'd go with at least Home Premium just to be safe. Definitely get the OEM version of whatever you settle on if you can though; it will save you 30-40%.
