A funny bug, I was playing a game recently and I was losing bad (im still a noob). I was down to my last station, starfleet command, and i used it to warp in a descent. Before the ship arrived, the station was destroyed and i was told by the computer i was eliminated. then the decent arrived (with the shield/hull status of the station when i pushed the button of course) and i was suddenly not dead. Obviously the descent died pretty quickly as it had no shields and half hull gone, and i was eliminated a second time. I think im probably the first player to die twice in the same game, im that crap

Not really a 'bug', though. Getting a new ship means you're not eliminated anymore. Putting a new ship in through Map Editor gets the same effect.

it is a bug, because the game says you are eliminated, that means you are out.

the game should wait until your warp-in arrives and gets blown up before saying you are eliminated.

Imagine it this way, when other players see the message saying a player is eliminated they dont expect to see more of that player's ships.

You are declared when everything is destroyed, Warp-In ships don't class as your own and are Team 0 until after arriving. Bugs are flaws, this is just a ship arriving late and overriding a previous event.

It would be a bug if the Warp-In ship was on Team *You* while coming, not if they are on a non-playable team. That's just a delayed event with good timing.

its a bug, the ship's team may be 0, but everyone knows it will be yours when it arrives.

your post details the reasons why the bug occurs, which is well understood. but its still a bug. it is a flaw, the game should not delcare you eliminated if in a minute you will have a ship that will uneliminate you.

A ship on Team 0 doesn't apply to the eliminate quota because it isn't yours, you are eliminated the instant the last unit on your team dies. Until it arrives you have nothing, making you eliminated. The game doesn't care about when it arrives, it cares about now.

That's like saying the ability to add ships to a dead team with Map Editor is a bug (kinda).

you're still only detailing the reason why the flaw occurs, i understand perfectly why it happens  B)

now the fact THAT it happens is the problem. warp-in ships should prevent elimination until they arrive.

Shields not raising after transport is a flaw, ships vanishing in wormholes is a flaw, this is the game doing exactly what it is meant to. 'Correcting' it would be adding a bug which makes team 0 count as all of teams 1-8.

Maybe it will be changed in the future (pointless as that may be), but I doubt we will ever agree on this non-flaw.

or when you are eliminated and your team mate gives you some ships

they will be listed in admirals log as still under his command.. but you control them

it is a flaw tyler, its a minor one, but still wrong, eliminated means no chance of coming back in my dictionary, so if you have a warp -in on the way you cant possibly be eliminated.

Except the game doesn't use eliminated in that sense, here it only means there are no units under your command. Calling this a flaw means that Unit Exchange is also a flaw, because that does exactly the same thing despite being at eliminated status.

There is a difference between a flaw (mistake) and a relic of an older game (something that hasn't been done). This is one of the latter, as you may be suprised to hear this but stock A23 wasn't programmed to take Warp-In into consideration.

Should we just end it here? I can see this going on like a Romulan vs a Klingon...

lol we can end it and agree to disagree, but i will get my last point it.

when the game says you are eliminated it tells all other players the same, when they see this they expect it to mean you are gone completely. not gone, but might have a few ships left from warpin. i think either the phrase should be changed to reflect the warp-in possibility (change it to maybe out of units) or only have eliminated appear when everything is gone.

Much easier to rename eliminate to something else and mute the voice announcement.

I think I'll make mine say Neutralized. It should work, since their forces in the sector have been defeated but the Warp-In ship came from somewhere else and isn't part of that fleet. Only for the "You were eliminated" parts though, the Vote to eliminate part is fine as it is.
