HI :D I am NovaX.
Thanks for carrying forward the legacy of Star trek armada 2. :woot: ;)

I have a Question. ( It kinda determines whether i will be able to play fleet ops or not. :pinch: )

I have star trek armada 2 : Demo.
My REALLY BIG :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop: question is :-

The demo version supports multiplayer game ( 8 teams game ) and the first single player campaign.
& ONLY 2 RACES : FEDERATION & BORGS  .

If I download the fleet ops and install it and update the game(WHICH IS A DEMO)
Will fleet ops be able to work ? and Will it add the other races ?

It would be great if the updated ships and Tech works in multiplayer mode. I really have no use of single player game.

Please Answer .

Thank You & Regards,
Nova X

I don't think anybody has ever tried before. I say give it a shot and see what happens.

I highly suggest giving it ago as the only only thing fleetops uses from Armada II is the .exe and all the fleetops engine looks for is the .exe when checking if you have a valid install... And when I say the .exe i literally mean just the name...

In fact you can get flops to install without anything but that so if you read between the lines there I have told you how to install it...

however you won't be able to host any games without a cd or an image of one or a crack... But you will be able to join multiplayer games as the cd check is done only on the host

:D :D :D :D

Thanks. if the fleetops mod works the way you have said then................

:sweatdrop: :sweatdrop:

will it have any trouble finding the star trek .exe file ?
I mean this is a pretty stupid Q. but in the demo version the star trek .exe file is named as:- Armada2Demo .

I guess I'll just try. at least I'll have the new races for offline multiplayer. :)

If it is installed correctly you won't have to search the exe file... :)

the file name needs to match exactly to what the star trek armada 2 .exe was called... and again without a loader/crack/image you wont only be able to join multiplayer games, you wont even be able to do a skirmish

Hey Nova X! Welcome aboard! :) I've never considered this as an option to run Fleet Ops, but it's absolutely worth a try. Never had a demo version in my hands before. Is it via CD or a DC? If it's a CD you may have chances.

Try this one after you downloaded Fleet Ops:

1. Make sure you have the demo version installed on your PC
2. Launch the FleetOps installer
3. Try the option "use existing Armada2.exe" as hooking point for the installer
4. If it works --> proceed with installation of Fleet ops. It's not obligatory to have the CD in the drive at this point.
5. Insert your demo CD and launch FleetOps and try to start a skirmish match --> if it works: congratulations

6. Back to point 3. If the installer complains about there is no valid EXE available, then:
7. Rename your "Armada2Demo.exe" to "Armada2.exe" , no matter if the exe is unusable afterwards.
8. Rerun the FleetOps installer and proceed as explained in point 3.

Important: When you start a Skirmish, the Armada2Demo CD must be in your drive! Otherwise it won't work, that's for sure.

I would like to add, that there could be the possibility to use an cd-image combined with a virtual drive if you don't have a demo-cd (depending on the exact license terms). However I am not sure if this is going to work.
