Hi,

Over the past few days I've been playing FO3 (great mod btw, I'm still in awe at the graphics enhancement. Its like playing ST:Armada 4; if it existed).

But today I have been completely unable to get the game running. I was playing around with DEP settings yesterday trying to get rid of an error in Windows which was crashing windows explorer whenever I viewed an AVI preview picture.

I've reset the DEP settings as they were and have reinstalled FO3 from scratch at least 6 times now (ensuring that the profile folder is also removed), to no avail. I've also tried running in Windows 95 mode with no success. Any suggestions?

EDIT - I'm running Windows XP SP3 and the game had been running great for 1 week or more before this error started occurring.

Odd issue. I managed to fix it by fully uninstalling FO3 and Armada2, deleting all left over folders, rebooting, reinstalling Armada 2, patching to 1.1 and then reinstalling FO3.

Not sure what would have caused it, since I can't imagine changing DEP settings would screw up files in the vanilla Armada 2 folder.

The reinstall also failed when I used files from the CD, so go figure.

Not my intention to triple post, but this problem re-appears everytime I reboot.

If I reinstall Armada 2 vanilla and then FleetOps from scratch it works fine. Then I reboot the computer and I get an "Out of memory" error with FleetOpsHook.dll  :crybaby:

Unfortunately the new patch (3.0.1) does not appear to fix this issue. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled from scratch to give a clean install, but after turning on the PC this morning FleetOps no longer runs (same error message)

I also noticed this thread covers the exact same issue:

Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - 3.0 Launch Error

so it did work for you some time?

i had this problem, once... but i think i have a solution... (mabye its a coincidence or just luck but this is what happend).

System Spec:
Q6700 Intel Core Quad 3.00Ghz
4Gb DDR3 RAM
9800GX2 2Gb DDR VRAM
Xp Service Pack 3 (64 bit)
1 Tb HDD

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After I installed FO3 from the Armarda 2 CD, then patched it. I started it and the screen went black then to desktop.
2 days later i expanded my Virtual memory to 5Gb and forced it to use all 5Gb no matter.
As i clicked on the FO3 icon i remembered it wont start, but it did.

Mabye thats a fix? mabye its a coincidence... or im just very lucky cuz i havent had a prob since then. :D :D

i guess that was something else you were experiencing there and not directly related to that issue.

The game works if I:

1) Uninstall FleetOps and Armada 2
2) Install Armada 2 vanilla
3) Install Armada 2 1.1 patch
4) Install FleetOps 3.0
5) Install FleetOps 3.0.1

But if I reboot the computer (or turn the computer off and back on again later), the game will no longer run.

Out of curiosity, I altered the size of the page file making it much larger, but it did not fix the problem.

yes it appears to have been a coincidence.
But just incase i thought i should say, just incase it worked

After experimenting with this, it appears that running the game more than 3 times causes this error. The FleetOpsHook.dll has an allocated memory of 9.66MB and at its current file size exceeds this after being run more than 3 times.

I again performed a fresh install of A2 + FO3 + 3.0.1 and found that trying to run the game for a third time brings up the "EOutOfMemory" error which I have been getting.
