I don't know if this affects everyone or it is just me, but I was just running FO with fraps and got interesting results.

It seems to have a built in v-sync that keeps the frames at about 60 fps when you are lookng at an empty part of the map, but when you click on the minimap to somewhere with even just one ship, it drops to around 30, but flucates if things get hectic. Is it some kind of v-synce, but with a 30 fps lock working at the same time? It seems very strange.

And at 30 everything seems to visibly half the speed if you ever see anything flying around at 60, but it feels like the speed we have always been playing on and 60 fps is very fast. Which is right?

Maybe addressing this would help with certain lag and oos issues.

hm thats interessting. well basically, the rendering done by the armada engine is not very smart. large parts were originally rendered by a software renderer. that may of course cause performance issues. we are working on converting most of the stuff in a modern directX stuff, but it takes time. i think we will take a closer look into that issue :) thanks for reporting
