I am looking at getting a new laptop & I know that fleet-ops can have a problem with the GTX 400/500 series in desktop/tower computers.
However I am wondering if this also applies to the Mobile versions for laptops (the GTX 400m/500m) specifically the laptop I am looking at getting has the GTX 560m in it.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

all i know is my 460m works perfectly with full graphics detail and 1920x1080.
however, from a quick search of the issue, it seems to be only with 500 series cards.

Well the Fleet-ops guide lists GTX 400/500 series as the cards with the issue :sweatdrop:
Technical FAQ - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations

or it just might be that people are buying the newer 500's and not the 400's.... I have no Idea....

Does anyone know if the GTX 460 on the desktop doesn't work? If so that might mean the mobil cards don't have the problem since the GTX 460m works....

Indeed, although we have incomplete information on every card, it appears still to be the GTX 400/500 series: Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Unable to play (there are actually several reports of the 460 having issues).

I still do hope the engine-rework will get FO to work under GTX-cards.

I don't think it is FO's side that is causing the problems  :sweatdrop: . Based on the sporadic reports, sometimes I wonder if it isn't some additional incompatibility in those systems, as it doesn't seem like everybody who has these cards has found an issue.

well Nvida cards do alow a large amount of custom tweeking in the advanced 3d settings.... It could just be something in the dozens of settings there..... It might just be a setting that was added starting in the 400's

Just for future reference; I did buy the laptop with the GTX 560m, It runs fleetops great on highest settings, so far no problems. I will post here if I do experence issues later.

I have also added my experence to the poll.

Does FO use Direct7 with hardware transform and lighting?
What I read in the Freefalcon forum is that all newer nvidia cards have problems doing that combination.
Nvidia made a fix for some games though...
I also remember that when I switched off HT&L in Falcon Allied forces, all problems went away...
maybe this is possible too with FO?

Several ppl have issues with the GTX 460 card, yet Fleet Ops is running smoothly on my system with a GTX 460 and Win 7 so at least with this card it seems to be not solely an nVidia problem.

Fleetops (like a2) uses dx8 by default afaik. a1 used dx7.
