How to add that little race symbol next to the ships?

I created the Breen as a sixth race. I know which TGA file has the race symbols. I'm planning to copying the tga file and renaming it another name. I will copy the breen race symbol over one of the races, but how do i get it to work? there is already a line in the global sprite file with a race icon symbol for the breen, but it doesn't actually show up in the game.

actually, I figured it out....

but I am lost on where to make be seen on the debriefing menu

In the various game files, go into bitmaps > AdmiralsLog > Overlays. The various Admiral's Log race images are in there.

ok its a start. But I am still clueless in how to add a breen symbol and make work.

If you're in the right folder, you should be seeing faction images, 2 for each, one "LOGORACENAMELIT" and "LOGORACENAMENORMAL". Just add in the Breen's equivalent images, replacing "RACENAME" with the name of the race (in code, not display), and it should work.

how do I add it in code?? I'm completely lost. Sorry if I look like an idiot, but I am not familiar with xcf files.

Well, you know the race name you use in the game files on various starships in such? You know, the line:

Code: Select all

race = "RACENAME"

The "RACENAME" is the name you should be using on the image names.

Ok, I think I've got it now. Go into the odfs, find "AdmiralsLog.odf" (it's literally at the top of the list), and you should find the list of race icons down there... just add in the entries for your new race there.
