Installation Problem

Every time I try to install this it tells me that it has 16-bit components that don't work in Windows 7 64-bit.  I'm wondering is there something I'm doing wrong?  I read other people in here installing this no problem.  I'd love to play, anyone have any suggestions?

have u tried running in compatibility mode for xp or running the setup.exe in administrator mode? i once had problems with fleetops under Win7 x64 and that allways resolved them..

hmm strange i just installed fleetops on my Win7 Ultimat 64bit two days ago...works fine.

How do you install it? With an image or a Armada 2 folder on your hard drive?
I used an old old Armada 2 folder...

compatibility mode for windows (either xp or vista) should do it good.

Well, I suppose I should say that Fleetops works just fine and installs, but I can't install the Armada 2 on it's own under 64-bit Windows.  It's one of those 16-bit installer, 64-bit incompatibility errors.  Does anyone have any idea how one could get it to run?

Well, you don't need to install armada II, just need the disk in the drive.  I don't have Windows 7 yet (will get it soon).  And as others have said, compatibility mode should work if you're having problems.

I'd still like to play the old game though.  Is there a 32-bit installer?

actually there are no 16 bit components in fleet operations or the installer provided with it. i *think* the stock armada 2 installer from your cd uses some 16 bit components. don't use that! a pre-installation of armada 2 is not required when installing fleet operations. install it directly via the fleet operations installer.

Okay, I am having similar trouble (probably going to get nagged at for this, but...)

I to want to play the Original version of ST Armada II, but I get the setup.exe opening then sitting there, had it open 5 minutes and nada, would not install, any ideas what could be the problem

EDIT: it seems that it maybe related to my OS, as that I run XP SP3, I am checking other forums for this situation

if you want to install stock armada 2 - just wait, the installer comes up after a few minutes. if that doesn't help, there also exist a general third party fix for 16 bit applications (i don't have the link anymore, but i also have used it when i still was on xp).

I'm having this exact same issue with Win7.  FleetOps installs fine but Armada 2 is a no-go.  I want to play the base Armada game since the Nebula has been all but removed from FleetOps.

Did anyone ever get this to install?
