Map Editor crash
Program aborts? Network configuration? Graphic errors? Bugs? Post your question here.

Hi everyone! I have a problem with the map editor (new, clean install of FO 3.2.5 on Win 7/64 system). Every time I try to place a nebula the editor crashes. All other map objects work just fine, however, any type of nebula will cause the editor to crash instantly.
FO also creates a bug report when it crashes (which might be a handy thing) but I really can't make heads or tails of it...
I am really not too knowledgeable about modding so any help or hints would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot in advance guys!

Hi and welcome to the forums.
if you could post the bug report here or send it to bugs@fleetops.net that would be helpful. The crash handler should offer you options to send the report when the game crashes.

Thank you for the quick reply and the nice welcome!
I used the automated function to send the bug report because I didn't really know which part of it to post (i.e. what part would be relevant
).

if you sent that report then it should be fine. very few people around here can read bug reports. the main people who can read them (the devs) have access to the automated report you sent.

welcome to the forum! ![Smiley :)](/forum/images/smilies/smile.png)
i received your bug report. not sure why this error occurs on your system, armada is unable to create the nebula for some reason. that should not happen on a clean install. i recommend your try to reinstall fleet operations, maybe something got corrupted.

I've been having a similar error with the map editor on 3.2.5 (clean install) with Windows XP. It seems to crash randomly after I place a unit. But the mouse always seems jittery (and resistant to movement) while in map editing mode.
posted on October 11th, 2011, 9:03 pm
can you send in a bug report for that, too please?

Sorry, I didn't save a crash report. But I will post it in the bugs thread.

The last crash should be saved in your application data %appdata%star trek armada ii fleet operationslogs

But I didn't save any crash reports from the editor crashes. Sorry.
I've done testing and the mouse' resistance to movement does not appear to be affected by what directory the map is stored in. As soon as you switch modes, the resistance goes away. I have XP 32-bit.

Hi all,
Just curious if this issue was ever resolved? I am experiencing the same issue in the 3.2.7 build. Whenever I place nebulae of any sort the map editor crashes and the report usually quotes that it was an 'access violation' at the Armada2.exe. I have tried most typical quick fixes such as a clean install with and without mods (STA2 and KA2) and changing the compatibility modes when running FO.
I am running FO on a win7 x64, Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2350M CPU " 2.30GHz, graphics: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (1696MB)
If anyone can offer any insight it would be much appreciated, I'd like to think I know my way around computer buts sadly when it comes to coding and troubleshooting bugs I'm only adept at Fortran XD. But again any insights are much appreciated and I am grateful to anyone taking the time to look into it, cheers.
