I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but everytime I try to install fleet ops, it gives me a "the setup files are corrupted, please obtain another copy of this program" mess age. How am I supposed to fix this? I love this game, I think it is awesome, but what could I posssibly do to fix this? Any idea's

try to download it from another source, use download manager, and download the file into different folder...

I've never had such a problem installing Fleet Ops, especially since I've used the Armada II disc well installing the game, which either way is a must to have since you "legally" can't play the game without the disc.

yeah the copy protection on a2 is weak, and fleetops doesn't need to improve it. an a2 iso will fool it (it'll also fool bridge commander as well).
you'll have to source the iso yourself.

Happy to see fellow brony.
ANYWAY.
I fixed all those problems, and now I'm trying to figure how to make it work with no CD.
Any suggestions?

Where would I find an ISO file for Star Trek Armada II to burn to a disc to have as a back up if anything ever happens to my disc (like a scratch or something). Technically ISOs and CD cracks are illegal because they break the Copyright agreements for the game (and anything else that has copyright really) but if you have the disc having an ISO backup shouldn't be bad; should it?
If you can post a link on how to do so thank you, or you can just PM me.
Thanks again.

1) i can't say how to find pirated software, it would break the forum rules.
2) you don't need to go find a pirated copy, if you have the armada2 disk then you can just make your own iso from that, or just duplicate it yourself. get ashampoo burning studio free (or similar software of your preference) and make a standard iso image of the a2 disk. there's no need for anything fancy, a2's disk checks were pretty weak, the iso will work. ashampoo free can also duplicate the disk of you want a backup copy in physical form.
3) the legality of disk imaging is something that's often debated. currently the de facto rule is that if you own a legit copy of the disk then you are allowed to make a disk image to keep as a backup, just as you're allowed to duplicate the disk as a backup. obviously you're not allowed to share the backup, only keep it as a backup.
the legality of using a nocd crack is also debatable. nocd's work with legit copies of the game (for people who just can't be arsed to insert the disk every time they want to play). and there's no law against using them. there's no such thing as a "copyright agreement", there is the End User License Agreement (EULA), but breaking that isn't something to worry about. whether or not eulas can be enforced or not is currently bouncing around courts in the US, and i've never heard of litigation anywhere outside of the US attempting to enforce an eula. the problem with eulas is that you can't see them before you buy the goods. and the sales contract is agreed upon when buying, not when installing. it's a legal mess, and at the moment, eulas are not a significant threat.

I'll try out "ashampoo burning studio" and see what its like. Thank you Myles.
