my units ignore their ai settings

It doesn't seem to do this all the time, and it's worse with the movement setting, but my ships generally ignore any kind of brain settings I give them. I pretty much always set the special weapon option to never fire, so the fact that they wouldn't use their special weapons anyway doesn't bother me. What does bother me is I set some ships to be defenses around my base area and tell them not to move, but they will chase any enemy ships that wander by across the map. The green, yellow and red alert functions correctly as far as I can tell. It's just the movement autonomy thing. I don't think this is a fleet ops only bug, stock Armada 2 had this problem as well for me.

Yes, this is a general issue with vessel AI (when grouped) in Armada II unfortunately. We are working on fixing these issues and figuring out why they happen for the next patches ![ThumbsUp :thumbsup:](/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.png)

I think he's talking about movement autonomy. Special weapon autonomy works perfectly (usually). Alert status also works the way it's supposed to.

yeah, the movement autonomy doesn't seem to make any difference, as they will chase ships that don't even fire on them if they get close enough, and they do not return to where they started if the ships they chase are faster than them. I usually play as borg and have some spheres stationed around my base area. If one of the scout ships of the enemy happens by all my defense ships will chase it to the other side of the map then stay there, leaving my base I wasn't paying attention to defenseless. Fleet Operations is the only mod I have on my Armada 2 install, but special weapons never fire if I set them to have control over that. My ships are insubordinate and should be punished. Maybe they are controlled by Unimatrix Zero or something?

Certain types of weapons may not be used by the AI/weapons autonomy, however, pretty much all Borg ones will be used automatically when set to yellow/red weapon autonomy - I'm not sure what the issue is here for you in this case ![Drop :sweatdrop:](/forum/images/smilies/sweatdrop.gif)
