I know this isnt related to Fleetops, but this is the most active Star Trek Armada 2 forum i can find.
Not sure if you people will remember me, it has been many years. Im Bryan, used to mod many times in the golden days of Armada 2 modding - and I made the Birth of the Federation mod, im hoping anyone can help me out something....
1) Im now working on a Star Trek mod for Stellaris, I need to convert a model from SOD format to a universal .3ds or .mod
format, I have tried tried tried to find software online to do it, but it seems all of the old programs we used to use have vanished or dont support sod files... do you have anything kicking around that could help me convert the file?
i know there was an unrestricted SOD improter for milkshake many years ago which I had but have since deleted, was hoping someone may still have it?
thanks again, Bryan

Milkshape 3d SOD Importer (only works for stock models)
http://armadafiles.com/files/armada-2/u ... er/details
There are also some 3dsMax sod importers:
http://guide.fleetops.net/guide/modding ... -resources
And here is another tool:

Milkshape 3d SOD Importer (only works for stock models)
- the model isnt a stock model unfortunately
3ds max - having trouble getting an older version of max to run on windows 10..
lithium unwrap - comes with an error sod file not supported on 1.9
ultimate unwrap 3d will import the sod file, but it wont let you export unless you pay for a license... and its like $50

CV crashes if you try to export a non textured sod, every material needs
a texture.
a texture.

I can dig out the Milkshape 3d unlimited importer if you'd like

LithUnwrap can import SODs. However, only the mesh, not the hardpoints and not the texture. But the textures just need to be assigned to the mesh again, re-mapping is not necessary. it is free and very useful!
Another way would be to ask someone else, who still has those importers, to do it for you. I would offer myself. I have enough time and could send it to you the next day (because im currently in China and have different hours).
... but in the mean time Squire James came to your aid. I suppose that is much more convenient!

squire james, if you have it can you send it to kamikazi929@hotmail.com, it would be much appreciated!
i used to have it back in the day, but ive went through so many drives and laptops since then.
ive always been tempted to get back into Armada modding, but the engine these days is so limited compared to the likes of Sins of a Solar empire and Stellaris.
thanks again all :-)

I just checked and this software can open SOD files! Also it can convert Sins of a Solar Empire!
It's fantastic you can even batch convert.
