Hey Fleet Ops team,
Me and some buddies used to play A1 A LOT and a bit of A2, then the games died off for us for several years. But recently I rediscovered all the Armada 2 mods, so me and some people have been playing Fleet Ops for a few weeks now over Hamachi (Tunngle would not work for us) and really like it. I prefer to play as Borg or Dominion and my one buddy likes Romulan best, the others tend to stick to Federation.
My main question is about when the next patch might be out and if the Out Of Sync issue could hopefully be fixed. At first we played game after game with multiple human players and AI without issue, but the OOS has been getting worse to the point where 2 out of every 3 games go OOS. Sometimes we get lucky and it just goes away, but other times we all end up OOS so bad we win the game at different times. We have managed to find it happens most when cloaking-capable species are on the map. Perhaps there is a setting we should be changing for this?
Cloaking brings me to another question, this seems to lag the game really badly even if its just 2 or 3 ships. Cloaking a fleet of 30 ships brings the game to its knees. We don't have slow computers either, for example mine is an i7 920/GTX 280/6 GB RAM. Out internet speeds are all 10 Mbps+ with decent upload and nothing else running. Perhaps there is a setting we should be changing for this as well?

Welcome to the forums
We are currently working on a rather extensive patch and we can give no ETA - it will be released as soon as all content is finished .
We are still hunting for the out of sync issues related to non-wormhole maps. If you want to help, please read over this topic Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Out of Sync Testing Help
It is surprising that cloak is causing such bad issues for you - I recall that Hamachi did have some issues relating to explosions and cloaks.... in any case, a fix is underway for the cloak lag . Decreasing settings should alleviate part of it, but the core issue is the outdated render that A2 uses

The maps we play on are either "High Energy" which comes included with Fleet Ops or a custom made map by one of my buddies, both have no wormholes. We will start using that logging process with every game we play from now on and I will post the logs in that thread.
I'm glad to hear another patch is in the works and that it is big! I look forward to it

Just wanted to put in an update.
We managed to get Tunngle working between all of us and have started using it instead of Hamachi.
With 4 people and 4 AI (normal, normal, hard, merciless) on an 8 player map we have had the OOS issue disappear mostly and the cloak lag is gone altogether. This is on nirvana2 which has a lot of wormholes for these recent games.

Cool, glad my memory isn't so bad . Yes, Hamachi did cause a lot of problems for us as well, hence the switch to other VPNs and eventually Tunngle .
I'm glad to hear the OOS issue is decreasing - it does seem to occur more often in stressed situations indeed. By any chance do you have any logs from those experiences?

Yes, usually when you see "Defiant's Game" or "Mcdoogle's Game" thats us.
We don't play very competitively though which is why we don't play with other people, we like to take our time and build up very very large fleets.

I did log one OOS before we switched the Tunngle, but we kept playing as it went away. My understanding is that you have to quit the game right away when it comes up or the log is somehow corrupted?

Nope, you just have to restart after every game (with an OOS) if you want to get more log files . So for instance, if I play one game and get no OOS, I can play another and get an OOS + log. After playing or losing or whatever, I will restart FO, and then I can make more logs .

Everyone's trash when they start (unless you're a freak of nature and your handle is "Cortosis"...), and this is pretty much the most forgiving community you'll find outside of the Amish. Also, nobody bites except for Arash, so it's pretty safe too.
