Hello, i want to make a map where the players start with a few ships under their control, right away - but not as Derelicts.
Is it possible to have an NPC ship follow the commands of a player, without Derelicting it on the map-creation screen? Thank you!

Well, currently... no. Though I'd like the idea of a player-controlled NPC. I dunno. But here are some things I remembered about NPC's that you should learn.
1] Never place derilicts on the same team as an active NPC ship (because then they'll just capture it)
2] Do not cluster the NPC ships too much, because they will gang up on people
3] It is recommended that you do not put down Dominion dreadoughts in the NPC teams unless there is another NPC team that can counter it. (Because if not then it will come after you)
4] NPC races do repair if they have a shipyard! So beware.
5] If you use a player race as an NPC, it will act like the AI you set it as.

Only if you use the right Ships and Stations...
