Observers and Collective Connections

One of the recent new features that impressed me is the ability for observers to see resources of the players.

A common trick for observers, especially those making replays, is to select the race whose GUI and BGM you want.

It appears that if you select any race that isnt borg or random, you dont get the CC display, even for Borg players.

Also if you select Random you always get the same GUI as the Feds, with the exception of the cursor being a curved golden arrowhead instead of a silver arrowhead that is usually used for the Fed GUI.

Can anyone else confirm this. I recently saw in Yandonman's latest replay that he chose Rom as his race and couldn't see Butterbread's CC count, but Boggz presumably went random and could.

EDIT: got confirmation from stardust that CCs only display for borg and random. will add to bugs table.

there is a special "observer" race, which shows all information for observers. It is chosen if the observers select random and yep, it shares the visuals with the Federation interface. We will remove race selection for observers sooner or later

If you remove race selection, you'll remove ambient music selection (via the media pack) from observers as well.

One of the feedbacks I've been given is to occasionally change up the ambient music in the replays I do.

I also just like to change up the music and the display from time to time in the replays, so if you could keep race selection for observers in there and have CCs visible, that'd be great.

Would it be possible to have the 'race selection' in the menu just alter the game music to the selected race?

thanks for the response optec. i dont use the media pack so im happy with observer race selection being removed. i would also be indifferent to what the other guys are asking for.
