Rhienns, phase plates, & high weapons autonomy?

I didn't really notice this until last night, but is there any reason why the AI will not activate Phase Plates on high weapons autonomy?
I was playing against some Merciless AI's to try a few things, and left a fleet of 7 Rhienns unprotected in the center. After an attack ping went off, I went back to check them, and noticed that their Phase Plates had not been activated (even though the ability was fully charged). Needless to say, I lost 4 of the 7 before I could activate it manually.
Just curious...I'm wondering if that is why I lose these ships so often.

one reason u lose a lot of them may be that u leave them uncloaked in the middle of the map just waiting to be killed. if u leave them cloaked, or in a nebula they wont get killed.
i think the ai wont use any replaceweapon, the phase plates special is a replaceweapon.

It can use replace weapons, just not very effectively.
You'll see the Akira that uses defensive patterns at the wrong time (when it's taking no damage at all), etc. I wouldn't mind seeing high autonomy activate phase plates when it's attacked and on high autonomy, although I would still advocate doing it manually.

Pretty sure phase plates isn't something that will trigger on full weapons autonomy

As I said, i was "experimenting"....this would not be a "normal" situation they would be in. I thought that High weapons autonomy was also supposed to activate specials....but apparently not.
What is this "replaceweapon" that you speak of? Is this a FO coding issue?

Replaceweapon is a bit of FO code that changes the odf used (original to refit) similar to Saucer Seperation from stock. It can only be activated by clicking a button, which the AI doesn't do.
You can usually spot them ingame because they change the ship's values and how it works.

the issue is not directly tied to replaceweapons, we don't have to confuse people with that kind of stuff
The issue is mainly, because the AI should not use abilities, which are timed to do something. As it will probably kick it of once an enemy ship is in sight. So, till we get a better "AI" for that kind of stuff, its YOUR job to do that! ![Azn ^-^](/forum/images/smilies/happy.png)
