Okay soo..im moving my personal mod over from FO3.1.1 to FO3.2.2 and Im having a problem with the sound effects that im bringing over. All my weapon sounds that didn't come with the 3.2.2 install all sound wonky and weird like the frequency or the bitrate is wrong. What are the sound parameters for .wav sounds or are we using MP3s now for this game?

they switched sound engines to fmod ex in 3.1.4 (i think). maybe the format changed.

Should I download FMODex tools to convert my sound files so that they are compatible with the new system?

yes, the new sound engine was introduced with 3.1.4
it didn't require us to make any changes to the sound files we were already using. the same thing applies to the stock armada 2 sounds which are working absolutely fine with the new sound engine.
the fmod ex sdk itself doesn't feature any tools to convert sounds. this has to be done with tools like audacity.
i recommend you look at our wave sound files settings. i think these are usually in 22khz wav pcm format (mono for sound effects)

have no idea whats wrong..but all the sounds are garbled and screwy. even when saving them with the same settings as the sounds that work..

edit: Gonna try and update my soundcard drivers and see if that helps out at all

Im using a Creative SB X-Fi PCI sound card..never had any problems before.. and all the sounds that come with FO3.2.2 work perfectly fine. Only my sounds which im adding in Im having a problem with. I have no idea what else to do. Even the voice overs that ive added in work perfectly fine...

Strange.  Is it possible they are using some kind of alternate encoding?

you could attach such a garbled sound, then we could have a look at it and help you

Okay.. sooo..update. For fun i tried using an FO torpedo weapon sound and the same problem is happening...i don't understand why all weapon sounds are garbled.. im sooo lost

EDIT: Problem solved!!! When I replaced all the FO odfs with mine..i also replaced the audio.odf which defined how the fmodex sound system worked. my sounds themselves are fine the odf was wrong. it has been replaced and I now have my mod running fully on FO3.2.2!!!! QA'PLA!!!!!
