It seems to be that a lot of the BGM is often strinctly within the 18-25 megabyte range. I currently am having a issue cutting a soundtrack down to size.

Length: 16:29.244
Channels: 2 (Stereo)
Bit-rate: 705 kbps
Sample Rate: 22kHz
Total File Size: 83.2 MB

Anyone here have suggestions to help FO handle it? I am trying to cut down the file size without tarnishing the file quality. However I can't seem to get it to run in-game or even on the menu screen.

Any help or technical information with FO's audio handler will be of great help.

I've gotten .wav's up to 50mb to work, but I run into the same problem of large music files not playing in FO. I've been hoping for a long time that they'd implement Mp3 or OGG support. The latest sound thread in the Dev Blog gives me hope that they might be working on that. The only suggestion I can give to save up on .wav filesize is to make it mono rather then stereo.

Well, I guess It'll have to be. I was hoping for some parts to phase from left to right just for ear candy. But... I guess if I must.

I've made my own custom music soundtracks with files over 22 minutes long that play just fine in-game. Try converting your bit-rate down to 352 kbps. That's what Armada 2 and FO typically use. As far as I can tell the length or file size doesn't really matter so long as you use 352 kbps. It's not a bad quality. I should note though that I've only used mono tracks as that's what I saw the game using.

Support for .OGG files will be implemented in one of the next patches.

...as well as support for mp3 files. with it though not necessary anymore, the large wave file loading problem should be fixed too.
